Legal & General are currently looking for a Solution Architect to join an underwriting project within our retirement income portfolio. The role holder will be responsible for supporting the architecture evaluation and implementation of the replacements for 2 legacy solutions in regards to Underwriting and annuity calculation/quotation.
Principal Accountabilities
- Design Ownership
- Producing and owning the end-to-end design of the solution spanning multiple software components (evidencing at all points how the design answers the requirements - clear traceability).
- Working with development teams to ensure detailed component-level design responds to the end-to-end design.
- Working with the Senior Architects to ensure that data and functional architectures adhere to the high-level architecture principles and support target state vision for the enterprise.
- Working with the IT Infrastructure implementation team to make sure that planned infrastructure adequately supports the software components of the solution.
- Requirements
- Working closely with Product Owners and Business Analysts to help translate desired business outcomes into robust system requirements, both functional and non-functional.
- Development & Testing
- Facilitate and participate in detailed design reviews and ensure that all components of the solution are aligned to the target state vision.
- Working with the testing team to support the definition and implementation of the testing strategy for the initiative.
- Software Delivery
- Working with component developers to elicit, validate and refine estimates for developing the software components.
- Planning and coordination of deployment activities across multiple technology platforms.
- Overall accountability for delivering technology change is shared with IT project managers.
Requirements
- Proven experience in selecting / implementing an Annuity Calculation or underwriting solution would be advantageous.
- Understand Micro services implementation paradigm to stitch together potential inhouse solution using the rules engine product.
- Experience of delivering high-level architecture documentation and submitting thorough an architecture governance process is must.
- Experience in complex calculations and deterministic modelling from underwriting or annuity calculation will be advantageous.
- At least 5 years ' experience working on similar projects within Financial Services, ideally Underwriting, but if not pensions and/or insurance.
- Excellent understanding and practical experience of defining, designing, and implementing Microservices in an enterprise environment.
- Excellent understanding and practical experience of cloud technologies, including Azure, PaaS, container platforms (Docker and Kubernetes), Serverless, etc.
Additional Information
- Initially a temporary contract for 27 weeks, with a view to extend, subject to business requirements.
- Day rate of up to £800 (dependent on experience, inside of IR35 and uplifted rate of 18.55% will apply if going via an Umbrella company).
- This is a hybrid role based out of the L&G office in Hove, the role holder is expected to attend the office, for collaborative purposes, 1-2 times a week.
Desired Skills and Experience
