Contract Description

Lambert Labs is looking for an enthusiastic Full Stack Python Developer and Cloud Computing Consultant for an initial 6-month contract, starting ASAP. There is a strong chance that the contract will become a full time role. Attendance in our office in Earls Court is required for a minimum of 2 days per week, but outside of this team members can work from home if they wish.

Lambert Labs was founded in West London in April 2017. We are a Python-focused software development and cloud computing company, with expertise across AWS, GCP and Azure. Our services are in demand - we have worked with 30+ clients, and our team size now stands at 8. We are a close-knit team and take huge pride in delivering high quality work to our clients while maintaining a good work-life balance. We have excellent client reviews on Google, Clutch and FS6. As a company, we are an AWS Select Partner, and are working towards becoming GCP and Azure partners too.

Projects to be tackled include:

  • Building an education platform which delivers lessons to help children learn to read and spell.
  • Maintaining and improving a pensions analytics platform deployed across 10+ corporate clients.
  • Hosting and improving a Wagtail-backed website and Flutter mobile app for a law firm.
  • Deploying and maintaining cloud infrastructure for a variety of clients across different industries.

Our main criteria for hiring for this role is that you are extremely bright and have a strong interest in software development and cloud computing. There are, however, a few specific things that might make you a good fit for this role:

  • 2:1 or higher in a mathematical or scientific degree.
  • Experience with Python.
  • Familiarity with the command line.
  • Have dabbled in other programming languages.
  • Experience with a version control system.
  • Familiarity with deploying web apps and/or databases to cloud servers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. This is particularly important when working in a part-remote environment.

It would be an added bonus if you have had experience with or have a keen interest in:

  • Provisioning and maintenance of AWS, GCP or Azure services.
  • Continuous integration/deployment.
  • JavaScript development, including React.
  • Flutter development.

During the course of the contract you will have significant opportunities to develop your skills. You will:

  • Be mentored by Senior Developers.
  • Have the opportunity to learn about DevOps - including Docker, build pipelines and continuous deployment.
  • Gain exposure to AWS, GCP and Azure, including studying for and obtaining professional cloud certifications.

Other benefits include:

  • Treehouse subscription.
  • Your choice of tech setup.

Please include an up to date version of your CV in your application. We would love to see any examples of your work that you have, including: a GitHub profile, a StackOverflow profile, a blog/personal website, a Treehouse profile or anything else that showcases your skills!
