JOB DESCRIPTION

The Lead SRE & DevOps Engineer resides within the Engineering area of the EMEA Services Delivery function.

The Lead SRE & DevOps Engineer is responsible for coordinating multiple cross-functional workstreams whilst assuring adherence to industry best practices, architectural frameworks, and business governance. Acting as a 'subject matter expert' in one or more disciplines, they operate as the 'technical authority' on the most complex of service engagements and utilize their knowledge-based expertise to assist in the promotion and adoption of new technologies within Insight. The Lead SRE & DevOps Engineer is also the most technical liaison between operational functions, other teams, engineers, and architects, and provides critical operational oversight to upcoming implementations and strategies including the validation of ongoing solutions supportability.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop strong business relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally in order to understand their requirements, scope projects, and integrate Insight's services within existing systems
  • To proactively identify, analyse and resolve root cause issues, suggesting opportunities for automation and optimisation to remove inefficiencies
  • Design, develop and maintain highly repeatable and reliable automated processes that support day to day managed service operations
  • Complete end to end quality control by following best practice to ensure standardisation across the operating environments
  • Act as a 'point of escalation' and utilize the support of other teammates, the wider Insight business, vendors, and partners where appropriate to ensure the swift and accurate resolution of technical issues
  • Lead and drive a virtual team, to promote teammate satisfaction through teaching, mentoring, and coaching; ensuring high performance and project success.
  • Contribute to the wider management of the Engineering team by helping to create and document detailed development paths for teammates as part of professional development planning.
  • Accountable for the end-to-end delivery of large programmes of work including the translation and subsequent delegation of complex delivery implementation plans.
  • Ensure end-to-end oversight of assigned programmes of work, act as an executive level liaison, identify and remediate potential risks, and template delivery methods to ensure consistency and repeatability in all aspects of delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Has experience in SRE tooling such as
  • Terraform, Ansible, Docker & Kubernetes
  • Experience in using cloud solutions such as MS Azure or AWS
  • Understanding of workflow-based logic and the ability to understand a business process from a workflow diagram and to conceptualise it as an automated solution
  • Can demonstrate experience in coding practices (such as JavaScript, C#, Python,VBA)
  • Familiarity with using system API's such as REST
  • Ability to test, debug and resolve issues with scripted solutions
  • Extremely well-organised and analytical with an ability to work well under pressure
  • Educated to degree level or can demonstrate equivalent work experience

Job Types: Fixed term contract, Temporary contract
Contract length: 6 months

Salary: £400.00- £600.00 per day
