The Role:
The Solution Architect is a multi-faceted role working to define business requirements and using data, application and infrastructure to design, build and implement scalable solutions within the agreed timescales and budgets. As such, you must be a highly experienced solution architect, able to gather detailed requirements from users, produce functional requirements documentation, whilst working with developers, testers, UX developers and project managers to realise a solution in line with requirements. Re-engineering business processes is also highly desirable.
The Solution Architect must be able to understand business challenges, must have technical knowledge of the software development life cycle and an ability to translate business language into technical language. The architect is the connection between the business and the technical teams and must be able to challenge requirements through detailed analysis, questioning and deep dives to ensure a thorough understanding of the problem which then determines the correct solution.
This is a hands-on client facing role where you will be expected to carry out requirements workshops, work closely with users, detail technical requirements, review test scripts and assist with functional and user acceptance testing and train users. You must be able to manage users at all levels, ensure expectations are realistic and help to identify, understand and implement steps to mitigate risks to projects and find the right balance between the ideal world and the real business needs.
