Business Information and Reporting Manager Inside IR35

Contract Term: 6months

Contracting Authority: Network Rail

As Business Information and Reporting Manageryour main key responsibilities would be to:

  • Develop a number of Power BI Dashboards for the S&SD team to deliver assurance activities based on the following areas:
    • Accident and Incident Data
    • Close Call Data
    • Health, Safety and Environment KPI Data
    • CDM Periodic Assessments
    • Project Team Assurance Forms (Currently using the I-Auditor system)
  • In order to do this the resource will have to work closely with a number of stakeholders across Capital Delivery Eastern in order to build up measures and requirements for the dashboards. A large amount of time will be spent with the S&SD Assurance team to build the dashboards to ensure that it meets the requirements of this team from an ongoing reporting perspective.
  • Facilitate or support structured workshops and one-to-one sessions to problem solve and identify opportunities which drive out waste, issue/risks and add value for Network Rail’s people, customers and passengers.
  • Investigate the use of new systems (Such as Power Apps and Microsoft Forms) to replace existing systems and develop these systems to meet existing requirements for assurance activities. The Power-BI Dashboards will then be designed to work off these systems.
  • Investigate and be the single point of contact for Capital Delivery Eastern for any potential coordination activities with other data management initiatives and work streams (Either Regionally or National). This is to ensure that what is designed for S&SD is in line with other areas of the business, that work already done by these initiatives / work streams is used to reduce required effort to create new dashboards and data management processes and where possible create efficiencies that benefit the business as a whole.
  • Develop a Power BI Dashboard for the Supply Framework Initiative based on a balanced scorecard that utilises data from the aforementioned systems.
  • Undertake troubleshooting and fixes for any issues following completion of the dashboards and produce a troubleshooting guide manual to be passed on to the S&SD team.
  • Produce a definitions document for all measures and calculated columns
  • Provide coaching, guidance and mentoring to the two members of the S&SD Assurance Team to allow them to take ownership of the dashboards on completion but also to allow them to be part of the dashboard building process, potentially taking on sections of development where the resource will act as a checker to ensure it meets requirements.

You’ll have essential experience of the following demonstrated on your C.V:

  • Excellent Proficiency in Power BI /Power Apps Platform.
  • Data warehouse experience.
  • DAX SQL programming language.
  • Ability to seek and collect customer requirements from multiple stakeholders.
  • High-energy positive can-do mindset, ability to work well in teams.
  • Confidence to challenge poor process amongst stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to coach staff within Safety and Sustainable Development (S&SD) on Power BI Platform and Data Warehouse.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse and interpret complex data translating into usable insights.
  • Ability to present and communicate data-driven results clearly, concisely, and effectively.

It is desirable but not essential that you also have the following criteria/ qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience of advanced statistical techniques and concepts
  • Formal Lean / Six Sigma qualification.
  • Experience in coaching/training and/or formal training qualification
  • Knowledge of the Rail Industry
