Waracle is looking for a talented Lead Java Developer to join us on a greenfield digital project with a leading UK retail bank. You'll bring expert level skills with Java and experience creating middleware for native mobile apps.

It’s an amazing time to join our team and you’ll be supported by a rapidly growing team of experienced specialists in design research, UX, UI, Scrum, product, data and cyber security, alongside developers specialising in native, hybrid and web technologies.


This position will be based remotely (within the UK) or hybrid, and is open to both permanent and contractor candidates.


The ideal candidate will bring experience creating middleware to support native apps with cloud back-ends, with strong skills in developing and implementing API's. You’ll have expert knowledge of Java and be a natural born problem solver – you’ll relish the challenge of having to solve complex problems and come up with brilliant solutions and products. 


  • Top level skills with modern Java languages (8 and above)
  • Experience with Spring, Springboot and API's
  • Experience architecting and creating multiple-tier services in an enterprise environment
  • Ability to work with senior stakeholders and cross functional teams
  • Background working with multiple public or private cloud environments
  • Experience leading a technical team within financial services or other regulated environments is preferred
