Contract Term: Until 31/03/2022 – possibility of extension

Contracting Authority: DHCW ( Digital Health and Care Wales ) 

Location: Remote working – onsite in Cardiff on occasion

Test Analyst duties and expectations: 

  • The Test Analyst will take a leading role in testing in any assigned project and the associated sub-programmes as required.
  • This testing will be done in accordance with the DHCW Test Framework.
  • This may include developing testing strategy, plans etc, Systems and Integration Testing (SIT), Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT), User Assurance Testing (UAT), Regression Testing and Performance Testing activities and deliverables, depending on the priorities and stage of development. 
  • The role also requires hands on testing to build application expertise and ensure project deadlines are met. 
  • The Test Analyst will need to work closely with DHCW Project Managers, Test Leads at the DHCW Health Informatics Research Labs at Swansea University and clinical and technical stakeholders.
  • Analyse and resolve complex IT and testing issues.
  • Analyse the testing needs of the project in line with the DHCW Test Framework and Patient safety strategy and produce the Test Strategy, Plan and scripts for the various test phases.
  • Analyse complex business and clinical processes to produce Test Strategies, Test Plans, Test Cases and Test Scripts that reflect the working practices of the areas where a system is to be deployed.
  • Analyse and document the requirements for non-functional testing.
  • Analyse Business Requirements and specifications in order to prepare comprehensive Traceability Matrices for the systems under test.


You’ll have relevant experience in:

  • The ISEB intermediate certificate in software testing
  • Demonstrate and maintain knowledge and expertise of test methodologies and relevant industry standards.
  • Demonstrate and maintain knowledge and expertise in test tools e.g. Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server.
  • Demonstrate and maintain knowledge of differing systems life cycles e.g. Agile, RUP.
  • Acquire and maintain a detailed knowledge of the systems to be tested and the business and clinical processes the system is intended to support.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a sound knowledge of relevant NHS clinical and business processes would be beneficial but not essential
  • Attention to detail and good stakeholder engagement
  • Demonstrate and maintain the level of knowledge necessary to carry out their duties in areas such as:
    • Team Foundation Server (Microsoft)
    • Writing and executing basic SQL queries
    • Server operating systems such as Windows Server, Unix/Linux
    • Microsoft SQL Server – desirable but not essential


You will also have these Qualifications/Skills:

  • A relevant degree (or educated to an equivalent level), or extensive experience of software testing in a highly complex technical environment.
