Contract Term: 6 Months

Contracting Authority: Radioactive Waste Management (RWM)

Location: Remote - Harwell & Warrington ( Limited office visits )

RWM are a public sector organisation established by government and responsible for planning and delivering geological disposal in the UK. For over 30 years we have been carrying out research and development into geological disposal. Working with the international scientific community on multi-million pound research programmes, sharing the latest advances and best practice. Today we work with the companies that produce radioactive waste to help them safely package their waste now so that it will be suitable to go into a geological disposal facility (GDF) in the future. RWM is a subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, a public sector organisation tasked by the UK government with the safe and efficient clean-up of Britain’s civil nuclear legacy.


As a Digital Project Manager your main responsibilities would be: 

  • Manage Projects of various size and complexity with full End to End Project Delivery Lifecycle from Project Inception through to handover to Live Service.  
  • Develop Key supporting Project Management Artefacts to the required acceptance criteria e.g. PID, RAID Logs, Comms Plan, Quality Plan, Project Plan, Change Plan etc.
  • Provide Project Weekly Status Reports.   
  • Reports into Senior Digital Project Manager.  
  • Proactively Identify and Manage Risks and regular maintenance of RAID Log. 
  • Proactively resolves issues to bring project back on track. 
  • Effective management of teams to ensure Project Deliverables and Outcomes are achieved against baseline requirements. 
  • Ensure Project is resourced accordingly to deliver the base line project plan. 
  • Work with legal, supply chain, commercial and other functions in RWM alongside the lifecycle process facilitating agile delivery ensure any projects are delivered compliantly. 
  • Working with the ICT team in RWM looking at output of digital delivery into service and operational plans. 
  • Working with policy and governance teams to update and assess legislation & policies applied to RWM project operations throughout business information and reporting to the RWM Programme Directorate. 


You’ll have relevant experience in: 

  • A strong track record of delivering Projects especially in Digital or IT Transformation. 
  • Hands on experience with project management tools like MS Project/ Cora. 
  • Excellent Verbal and Written communication skills. 
  • The ability to prioritise “wants vs needs” and ensure that Project Scope is delivered to the agreed Business Requirements. 
  • Leads, motivates, and directs team members to deliver desired Project Outcomes.  
  • Extensive experience in effectively working and managing Third Party Suppliers to ensure Project outcomes are achieved for the Organisation. 
  • Excellent Problem-solving Skills to ensure challenges encountered are resolved to ensure Project stays on track.  
  • High level of energy and drive for results - able to prioritise and work with rigour to a high quality. Tenacious and consistently delivers what they say that they will do. 
  • Experience of working in fast paced, complex change or transformations projects or environments 
  • Relevant professional qualification (MSP, Prince2, PMP) or equivalent. 
  • Extensive experience in engagement and management of cross functional teams. 
  • Ability to hold a minimum of UK Baseline Clearance (BPSS
