3 month contract, as a Linux Software Engineer you will be responsible for the development and support of NFS caching/proxying software based on open source products for the operation of storage systems over a wide area network, specifically using and improving knfsd, Ganesha, and other related software. You will collaborate both internally, and externally with upstream open source communities.
Developing in storage systems in user space or Kernel space and interacting with the relevant open source communities is a must.
Every new Kernel version and package release needs to be tested and validated and an advisory issued to customers on suitability for production.
Provide enhancements to NFS Proxy/cache to provide insight into how the file system cache is performing through metrics creation.
Develop IaC scripts to accelerate deployments on Google Cloud.
Triage, investigate, and resolve related performance or stability issues.
Build and/or support user space libraries and tools for monitoring of the systems.
Advocate best practices with other engineers when it comes to Kernel usage, deployment, tuning parameters, etc.
And finally, actively contribute to the open source ecosystem with enhancements.
What we need from you
Knowledge of Linux Kernel including debugging & profiling
Deep understand of distributed storage systems
Collaborative and proactive
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving and critical thinking
Articulate, persuasive and commercially aware
Would be great if you had
Network attached Parallel file systems, (NetApp, Luster, etc)
Platform/Infrastructure and/or DevOps engineering experience for enterprise customers
Scripting (Python, Bash, Terraform, Ansible etc.) experience
Public Cloud engineering experience: GCP, AWS or Azure
