An excellent opportunity has arisen for an accomplished Infrastructure Lead to join us on a permanent or contract basis in Aberdeen. As Infrastructure Lead you will provide operational management, support and project delivery across infrastructure, undertaking the day to day management of a team of Engineers and assisting with the design and delivery of infrastructure related projects. Although this is an Aberdeen based role, we will also consider candidates who wish to work on a remote basis with only occasional travel to Aberdeen.

What to bring

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to evaluate solutions, services and contribute to improvement of IT Infrastructure
  • Extensive Infrastructure support experience at enterprise level, preferably within an oil and gas setting
  • Detailed technical knowledge of Microsoft Server, Exchange, VMware, Citrix, VDI Unix/Linux, Public Cloud (Azure/AWS), O365 and Networking technologies gained in a hands-on technical support role
  • Able to contribute to technical strategy, service development and provide innovation as well as being able to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems and incidents
  • Strong demonstrable leadership experience within an Infrastructure team
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills and ability to liaise with individuals up to Senior Leadership level
  • Experience of installing, configuring and supporting Microsoft technologies and products in both physical and virtual environments
  • Hands on extensive experience in the following:

o Microsoft Azure IaaS

o Microsoft Exchange


o VMware/Hyper V

o Citrix

o Storage

o PowerShell

  • Problem solving skills
  • Proven documentation skills
  • Ability to be self-supporting and proactive
  • An awareness of emerging technologies and demonstrable desire to stay current
  • ITIL certification and experience and understanding of working within an ITIL environment
  • Technical Microsoft/VMware/Citrix certifications
  • Relevant degree in IT

What you'll do

  • Monitor, manage and lead a team of engineers responsible for the 3rd line support of all systems, ensuring that the highest levels of stability and reliability are maintained
  • Act as the onsite infrastructure technical expert with responsibility for building and administering storage, network, cloud, data, voice and video infrastructure
  • Provide BAU operational support across customer platforms, including health checks and reporting and act as a technical escalation point for major incidents
  • Act as a technical escalation point for the Infrastructure team
  • Delegation of continuous improvement, BAU and project work within the team
  • Ensuring contracts are in place for all systems and appropriate support, backup and capacity
  • Proactive management of infrastructure environments, identifying potential improvements to deliver increased stability, availability and performance
