An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Applications SME to join us in Aberdeen. The successful candidate will have specialist knowledge across the support and management of production, wells, business and engineering applications, including Hydrocarbon accounting, production management and reporting, engineering tools and field data capture and storage and will assist with integration activities relating to an acquisition. Although this role is Aberdeen based, we are happy to discuss remote options.

What to Bring

  • Extensive prior experience with application support within the Oil and Gas sector
  • Direct experience as a systems administrator or front-line support of PI, Energy Components, Wellview, SmartPlant, Aveva, Primavera and other significant E&P applications/vendors
  • Experience with RDBMS's - SQL and Oracle an advantage
  • Exposure to SAP, Maximo, Business Objects, SAP BI, Power BI, Spotfire and Informatica
  • Application installation & configuration experience
  • Good familiarity with Windows operating systems (Client and Server)
  • Working knowledge of AD (security groups, account details)
  • Experience of application licencing - Flexera, HASP, Sentinel
  • Good working knowledge of IT change management processes and principles
  • Strong customer orientated approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the confidence to liaise with individuals up to Senior Leadership level and external vendors
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organisation, taking time to get to know and understand customers, gaining their trust and respect
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under sustained pressure with conflicting demands and respond to fast changing circumstances
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Proven documentation skills
  • Ability to be self-supporting and proactive
  • An awareness of emerging technologies and demonstrable desire to stay current

What You'll Do

  • Provide frontline support for E&P business applications and services
  • Work with the various teams to ensure services meet business needs
  • Liaise with 3rd party vendors and provide contract management support where applicable
  • Participate in the change management process
  • Provide out of hours support via an on call rota
  • Installation, configuration, administration, support, maintenance and troubleshooting of the application portfolio
  • Onshore and offshore business application support
  • Related hardware accessory support and asset management
  • Patching application servers and databases
  • Technical lead in business-critical upgrades
  • License management compliance
