We currently have vacancies for two Business Analysts to lead on a major transformation initiative and join a team driving value for the business through improving processes and ensuring the best IT solutions are selected to support our business both now and into the future. These exciting roles will be pivotal in driving the council’s vision and will:
Engage with the business and lead/facilitate business and technical workshops to determine the most appropriate changes to processes and systems to create new, value for money, effective and efficient ways of working.
Lead on the creation of business case/requirement specifications and their translation into detailed technical and project commissioning specifications.
Participate in projects, providing clarification and support where required
As a great communicator and relationship builder, you will be able to interpret complex business requirements and transform them into simple to explain processes or IT solutions understood by both business and IT.
The role will work in a number of projects aimed at enhancing Slough’s web and digital presence. The primary focus of the role will be to lead on digital projects, whilst an ability to understand business requirements and shape service design will be key.
The projects focus on improving the user experience for those engaging with us through digital channels. The role will involve working with stakeholders across the organisation to understand their needs within specific projects and then driving the projects from inception to delivery. Some of the projects currently planned include digitising online processes and migrating from our current CRM to Jadu CXM.
Ensure that all content and technical developments are in line with agreed standards, such as accessibility, information security, GDPR, cyber security, open data etc.
To help drive the delivery of digital transformation within the wider organisation and enable all services to improve the council’s presence across multiple digital platforms.
Exciting work you will do:
Eliciting, reviewing, defining and documenting business requirements
Facilitating workshops to elicit and prioritise requirements
Documenting the as-is and to be business processes
Assisting with User Acceptance Testing (writing test scripts)
Creating CRM processes using Jadu CXM
Project management activities and post project reviews
Collaborate with digital service officers, communications officers, service managers, product owners and policy colleagues to support the vision and build of digital solutions and services.
Identify opportunities for service improvement and cost reduction, such as building more efficient interactions, using automation and integrations, reducing staff costs
To review platform updates, assess how they impact upon developed and future services and communicate any required changes so the work can be planned and prioritised.
Work closely with the business process analysts and the digital developers to estimate timescales for the design, testing and build of web and digital services, within the Jadu Continuum platform, that will enable the organisation to plan and prioritise work. This also includes the design, testing and build of integrations within and outside the Jadu platform (e.g with existing and future line-of-business systems)
Document the council’s current processes. Identifying improvements that can be made to enable services to deliver time and cost savings required.
Highlight opportunities to establish benchmarks and to identify measures to track the impact of changes.
Actively test prototypes within the team and ensure that all interactions and user journeys across our websites and services are consistent.
To align priorities with delivery of digital transformation within the wider organisation.
To enable staff, within areas of responsibility, to use the council’s digital platforms more effectively themselves, where required.
To identify and outline ideas for commercial opportunities.
To help all digital services meet the latest standards required by law, such as accessibility information security, cyber security, GDPR, open data etc
Collaborate with others when necessary to review specifications and use them to design, code, test and document programs or scripts, using the right standards and tools.
Manage changes and releases in relation to the Jadu platform and other council systems so that updates and changes do not impact platform performance or availability.
Regularly review the Jadu library for useful entries and contribute forms, workflows and transactions to it. Identify opportunities to work with other authorities to reduce future development costs.
Identify opportunities to develop the Jadu platform further, such as chatbots, AI and other integrations.
Skills, knowledge and experience
Degree or equivalent professional experience
Proven experience in a Business Analysis role within local government
Proven experience in business analysis methods/techniques
Can design, code, test and correct websites, as well as simple programs or scripts
High level awareness of a variety of IT software development methods
Understands experience analysis and how to develop software to meet user needs. Advocates putting users first and can manage competing priorities
Experience of the Business Analyst role across all stages of the project lifecycle
Experience working with content management systems (ideally Jadu CMS)
Experience working with CRM systems (case management, process flows)
Understands security controls, accessibility, version control, change control and release management in an agile project-based environment.
Understands information security and the types of security controls that can be used to mitigate security threats within solutions and services.
Experience of different types of testing and can create high-quality design documentation
Can help to fix faults following agreed procedures, such as changes and release management, and can carry out agreed maintenance tasks.
Able to communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context. Makes complex and technical information and language simple and accessible for everyone
Able to have an overall perspective on business issues, events, activities and an understanding of their wider implications and long-term impact.
Able to understand and work within the given constraints, such as technology, policy, financial etc and to challenge constraints that can be changed.
Experience of collaborating with senior stakeholders and capable of resolving disputes, taking into account all views and opinions.
Excellent written, verbal and presentations skills
Strong stakeholder management skills and experience in running successful workshops

Excellent IT skills
Good knowledge of customer service
Understands digital communications activities, such as websites, social media, newsletters etc
