About the role:

Working for our colleagues in Toyota Connected North America but based onsite in the UK. This role will require you to have some overlap with your colleagues in the US.

This role plans, designs, develops and tests high-quality, innovative and fully performing software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products. The Toyota Data Services Platform enables Toyota cars to communicate to the cloud and powers our engineering and data science teams to build efficient streaming solutions, smart analytic products and dashboards. We are looking for an Engineer to help build and maintain global-scale applications and services that will enable businesses, to engage with fleets and customers via digital vehicle products.

What will you do?

  • Contribute to full software development life cycle
  • Write maintainable, extensible, tested code, while complying with coding standards
  • Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility
  • Continuously Integrate and deliver software components into a fully functional software system
  • Work closely with a talented team of designers and engineers to build world-class web applications and services
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems

Who are you?

  • Java, Spring, Spring boot, Rest API, Docker, Jenkins, AWS Cloud, GitHub/GIT, Kubernetes.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Java EE for backend service development
  • At least 1+ year of production experience with JavaScript based single page applications and frameworks (Ember, Vue, React, Angular, etc). Recent (Octane) Ember experience is a plus, as we have several existing applications built in this.
  • At least 1+ year of experience in developing Services on Kubernetes (Microservices) and Docker (Containerisation)
  • At least 3 year of experience in developing RESTful APIs using either Spring, Spring Boot or Jersey
  • At least 2 year of experience in one of the following: MSSQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, No-SQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB
  • At least 2+ years' experience in one of the following Build and CICD technologies: GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus or Sonar, Docker, Terraform
  • Understanding of SQL and Elasticsearch
  • Working experience and good understanding of public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud)
  • Solid modern JavaScript experience (ES6/ES7/ECMAScript)
  • Ability to match design direction with markup and styling languages (HTML, CSS, SCSS, PostCSS)

  • Proficiency: Is accountable for own work. Actively learns and is open to feedback and direction from others. Treats others with basic respect.
  • Direction: Works under general guidance, however is expected to self manage tasks and remain productive without continual support or supervision.
  • Business Focus: Understands TCNA's business model, as well as the specific roadmap of assigned product or function. Understands the needs of the customer, and approaches work with a desire to exceed customer expectations. Shows basic understanding of technology costs and validates with Manager on impact of choices when unsure.
