Senior Network Consultant / Network Consultant x 2

Initial 3 month contract, Flexible work timings, Home based

Job type: Contract (Outside IR35)

Day rate: £400 - £525 per day depending on the skills and experience

Working for a leading Technology Management company we are looking for candidates for an exciting Network Transformation Project. This project is looking for an experienced Senior Network Consultant / Network Consultant who will be working in a highly technical team responsible for delivering the a large UK wide IP/MPLS core network. The role will be focused on the design and implementation of the network and cover the core IP/MPLS network as well as the security/management systems and supporting tools to maintain them.

The role will involve technical contribution throughout the network lifecycle, from network design to operational implementation. This includes contributing to design documentation, test plan documentation, report writing, RCA writing, migration strategies, test execution, MOP writing and technical training.

Key Deliverables:

  • Develop design documentation and other relevant documentation.
  • Develop test plan documentation and other relevant documentation.
  • Develop migration designs and MOP documentation.
  • Develop configuration scripts.
  • Undertake network and application configuration.
  • Undertake Systems integration testing.
  • Providing support on applications testing.
  • Liaise with vendor's TAC where necessary for any problem diagnosis and patching.
  • Monitor performance and efficiency of the network.
  • Provide advice on operating the network.
  • Resolve technical queries and provide training.
  • Validate new designs, products releases etc in the lab.

Essential Skills:

  • Should be JNCIE/JNCIP or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of experience of extensive Network Engineering experience including - design, test, implement, migrate and operate.
  • 7+ years of experience working in Customer facing project delivery roles.
  • Experience of working in high pressure environment.
  • Experience of working on-calls and in shifts.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of the following mandatory areas.
  • MPLS Services - L3 IPVPN, EVPN, NG-MVPN
  • Routing Protocols - ISIS, OSPF, PIM-SM, IGMP, MSDP, BGP, RSVP-TE, LDP
  • Quality of Service (QoS)
  • SNMPv3 based monitoring
  • Juniper MX Series Router
  • Juniper SRX Series Firewall
  • Juniper QFX Series Switches
  • Juniper EX Series Switches

Nice to have:

  • Solarwinds Monitoring application
  • JUNOS Space Monitoring application
  • JUNOS Telemetry
  • North Star MPLS Application
  • Experience to automate network configuration and verification tasks using Jinja, Python, Ansible etc

  • Ability to work with cross functional teams with people possessing different skill sets.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise.
