As Deputy Director of Data Strategy, you will: 

  • Define a comprehensive data strategy that covers incoming and outgoing data feeds, how app data will be used within and outside the app team, and the evolution of these in the short/medium/long-term
  • Work with internal and external data science teams to drive continuous improvements in app core exposure notification capability and identify novel insights from app data
  • Provide an accurate, timely and relevant MI service to internal stakeholders in support of the effective day-to-day operations
  • Identify relevant internal & external data sources to support continuous improvement/development of key app features, working closely with the technical delivery team to make sure these are integrated with the app back-end architecture reliably and effectively
  • Define and implement data items that will be shared with stakeholders across the programme and ensuring appropriate technical & procedural mechanisms are in place to meet required security/privacy standards
  • Work closely with the product & technology teams to align the data strategy and priorities with the wider app roadmap and delivery schedule

You’ll have:

  • Experience of running a data analysis and/or operations team and working with partners in the data research space
  • Experience of working with academic and research partners to define common strategic goals
  • Experience of translating strategic direction into plans for delivery
  • Experience of working with a range of internal and external stakeholders at senior level to develop new data sources
  • Experience of working with international stakeholders to understand new and emerging data technologies
  • Evidence of being flexible and adaptable to change


It would be great to also have:

  • Experience creating and developing a comprehensive set of programme structures to deliver a data analysis and research agenda
  • Experience working with delivery of complex science and technology projects and managing an innovation portfolio
  • Experience working with range of commercial, academic and government stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions against customer need
