We are currently looking for a Service Transition Manager that we will be recruiting for one of our Government Organisations and Contracting Authorities in the coming weeks.

Live Services Operations within NHS Digital is responsible for the transition of Product and Programme activities upon programme completion into the live service to run and maintain. Operations is responsible for management of the live product including live service incidents, user queries, onboarding and integrating new suppliers or services.


As a Service Transition Manager, you will: 

  • Take the lead in ensuring that all aspects of service transition projects are driven through to delivery
  • Design, implement and maintain robust transition plan(s) taking into consideration any business activities required to integrate new services into the 'business as usual ' environment
  • Engage with all suppliers as required to complete production and approval of all service transition documentation
  • Determine the readiness levels of the department and incoming suppliers and business users with regards to upcoming changes
  • Uncover readiness gaps and own action plans to close the gaps prior to go-live
  • Assess risks inherent in proposed transitions, to ensure any potential scheduling and performance issues have minimum impact on provision of other services
  • Ensure all relevant department functions are fully engaged in the process and committed to supply resources to complete the transition plan
  • First point of escalation for any issues or problems raised by the suppliers or business


You’ll have:

  • IT Service Transition experience – Knowledge of various methodologies to manage IT and Digital Services (Agile, DevOps & Lean)
  • An understanding of managing products and services across the lifecycle
  • Proven experience of practising ITIL service management processes
  • The ability to create, develop and manage teams effectively
  • Experience in effectively managing business risks using recognised techniques
  • Solution Assurance experience


It would be great to also have:

  • NHS experience  
  • The ability to introduce new service and programme around internal governance
  • Project Management skills – Planning and presenting to people, delivery to timescales, running meetings
  • Basic understanding of the Cloud
