We’re building a Data Studio here at at Equal Experts and are looking for a senior-level Data Engineer to help us in all areas of data wrangling. The Data studio will be a small team of data experts with various, complementary skills, which will be delivering internal projects, client work and pre-sales initiatives.
We’re doing this to provide data expertise to our clients on both a long and short term basis, to provide subject matter expertise to other projects and to explore and Big Data and Data Science opportunities for Equal Experts.
This role is based at Equal Experts in Manchester, but the successful candidate would also work on-site with client teams, and also flexibly from home. They’d be expected to mentor and share their skills and knowledge with other developers on their projects.
The Data Engineer is responsible for the following:
● Providing technical leadership within their team
● Consistently delivering to challenging business objectives and adhere to Service Level Agreements with commercial implications for success and failure
● Demonstrating strong problem-solving skills
● Utilising Agile Technical practices; TDD, Continuous Integration and Delivery, etc
Delivering timely and most importantly pragmatic solutions.
The following skills and experience are required:
8+ years working on Data platforms and projects
Java, SQL+variants, Python
Working with a variety of RDBMS databases, ideally in production environments
Creation of highly available data pipelines:
Using both ETL platforms and coded equivalents
Using scheduling tools
Working with other data storage technologies including:
The Hadoop eco-system
Working with version control (Git/Github, Mercurial)
You will have spent time supporting data scientists - data prep, mentoring and support functions.
You will have solid experience creating and supporting highly available data platforms -, 5x9’s
