Ruby Digital Developer (Inside IR35)

The Cabinet Office are currently looking for an experienced Digital Developer who has detailed knowledge of Ruby and Ruby on Rails.

As a Digital Developer you will: 

  • Work on a variety of software tasks to maintain and improve all aspects of the GovWifi service
  • Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineers to improve infrastructure with a focus on developer experience.
  • Use toolkits and APIs for purposes such as integration, performance optimisation, security and scalability.
  • Fix bugs, upgrade dependencies, develop small features and clear technical debt.
  • Work in an agile way as part of a multidisciplinary team, participating in ceremonies
  • Create and update documentation, approve pull requests and maintain repositories.
  • Pair with other developers and share knowledge of tools and techniques with your wider team, both developers and non-developers

 

 

You’ll have:

 

  • Ruby experience
  • Ruby on Rails experience
  • A solid background in building and operating web apps and APIs running on AWS
  • CI/CD pipeline configuration 

 

It would be great to also have:

 

  • Have experience of using testing to validate solutions 
  • Have experience in front-end development
  • Terraform experience 
  • Have an awareness of technologies used for web applications, e.g databases, backups, CDNs and search, and of Unix-like operating systems, e.g. Linux and/or Mac OS  have experience working on, or with web technologies
