Contract Description

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to support the execution of domestic and international qualitative research projects with the Further and Versiti research teams.

Your focus will be ensuring the effective management of both qualitative research projects (online and in-person) that we deliver in partnership with consumer brands, agencies and charities, ensuring they are delivered on-time and on-budget to the highest standards, and with commercial sensitivity.

This role is for an initial three-month period, with the opportunity to become a permanent member of staff as the business continues its growth trajectory. This is a work-from-home role.

Essential requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a market research agency or equivalent
  • Experience with a wide range of in-person and online qualitative research methodologies
  • Experience managing global research projects and fieldwork


The responsibilities include:

  • Day-to-day management of online and offline qualitative research and research community projects
  • Participating in client calls and developing a quick and lucid understanding of their project requirements
  • Managing project profitability, including the creation of project budgets along with the project team, ongoing budget monitoring and budget reconciliation (WIP)
  • Supplier management and negotiations, including local and global field/recruitment partners, moderators and technology partner
  • Managing fieldwork on national and international projects, including:
    • Designing screeners,
    • Overseeing fieldwork logistics
    • Planning translations
    • Hiring venues and facilities
    • Liaising with fieldwork cost estimators,
    • Negotiating to maximise value for money, coordinating fieldwork globally, ensuring NDAs are in place


  • Working with recruiters to ensure selection of the best quality / value for money suppliers
  • Pre-selecting researchers and moderators with the right skills and experience for each project, and getting them ready to deliver (e.g. providing the appropriate training and support)
  • Prompt, professional response to emerging project-related issues which may sometimes be out-of-hours
  • Providing effective liaison between, and working collaboratively with, the Project Lead, researchers, moderators, recruiters, translators and other colleagues.
  • Maintaining a database of suppliers
  • Reporting project status/updates to the Finance Manager and Project Team
  • Co-ordinating project events, such as briefing and reporting sessions, and workshops
  • Timely preparation and delivery of well-presented project documentation
  • Alerting the research team of current or anticipated issues and risks in good time, and to plan and implement remedial action


Resource Management


  • Effective, profitable utilisation of physical and human resources
  • Managing internal resourcing for all project needs – proposals, live projects, holidays, absences, etc.
  • Utilisation reporting:
    • Managing timesheet completion (where required) and reviewing actual time spent on project vs. proposed time
    • Reviewing job levels that worked on a project vs. proposed levels


Skills-based Competencies

  • Proficiency with Microsoft and Google suite of products, including Office365 and GSuite
  • Ability to use project management and CRM software (inc. Salesforce, Hubspot and

  • Good understanding of qualitative market research
  • Strong negotiation skills to broker discounts with agencies and discuss cost implications with the research team
  • Thorough understanding of the project process and of standard research methodologies
  • Thorough understanding of the cost/time implications of the project process in terms of budgeted vs. actual cost/time
  • Client focussed: able to build clients ' trust and confidence in Further and Versiti 's ability to deliver a high quality service
  • Good understanding of costing structures, payment terms and other financial information
  • Ability to create and keep up to date a database of suppliers.
  • Language skills: Ideally, ability to speak fluently in English and one additional language
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines

  • Working knowledge of different cultural events that could impact upon project set up (e.g., different holidays, religious / cultural festivals in different countries)
