We’re looking for Senior Information Governance Specialists for 12-month contracts with NHS Digital.

Information Governance at NHS Digital means the application of privacy, transparency and ethics law and principles in relation to the collection, use, storage, management, publication, disclosure and destruction of personal and corporate information in compliance with all relevant law and legislation including but not limited to: 

 

  • GDPR and DPA 2018
  • Privacy and E-Commerce Regulations 
  • Human Rights Act 
  • Common Law Duty of Confidence 
  • Freedom of Information Act
  • Environmental Information Regulations 
  • Reuse of Public Sector Information Regulations 
  • Public law 


As Senior Information Governance Specialist, you will:

  • Work with the Information Governance Team and will be responsible for the delivery of complex subject matter expertise to a range of programmes and services within NHS Digital.
  • Undertake extensive stakeholder engagement and to deliver practical and solutions-focused IG input and advice to a variety of complex services, projects and programmes, making timely and informed decisions regarding best practice implementation of information governance to their plans and implementation practices.
  • Ensure that the NHS Digital business areas and its suppliers have understood the legal requirements regarding data protection and can balance the information risk accordingly, working with colleagues in the IG team and other business areas to ensure that Data Protection is by design and default an integral part of product and service lifecycles.

 

 

You’ll have:

  • Up-to-date specialist working knowledge and understanding of IG best practice, standards, law and legislation. 
  • Extensive knowledge of IG terminology and the application of IG to large scale information systems e.g. Privacy by Design and Data Protection Impact Assessments and transparency requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge of public sector governance and ethics in relation to how public sector organisations operate and how personal data is obtained, used and shared.

 

 

 

It would also be an advantage to have:

  • Public sector experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of other relevant legislation including the Health and Social Care Act 2012, NHS Act 2006.
  • Accredited project/programme management qualifications e.g. Prince 2, Agile.
