We are looking for an experienced Web Developer to lead on IT projects, web migration, web design and programming for a central University department. This is a temporary 12 week assignment starting ASAP. 
Main duties: 
• Develop IT projects within the Department, undertaking design, programming and documentation exercises as required. 
• Maintain and undertake improvement work on existing services (including Umbraco CMS, SharePoint (on premise and Office365), multiple Plone CMS websites, LAMP based web applications, Digital Signage and other 3rd party platforms hosted within the Department). 
• Maintain and develop the main Department website (and ancillary Research subsite), acting as the technical lead for any future website or subsite development, including managing users access to the sites 
• Assist the Communications Team in liaison with the website development company and project manage the schedule of works underway with them, ensuring it is completed to schedule, specification and budget 
• Develop research group and Institute websites to complement and interact with the departmental website, with input from the Communications Team on content, style, structure and branding 

• Maintain and guide the further development of other Departmental and Research websites or help transition them to main web platform. Ensure that websites and associated databases are managed in according with relevant University regulations and legal requirements. 

• Act as a technical consultant on IT projects within the Department, advising on technical standards, functional / non-functional requirements and other topics as appropriate.  
Person specification
• Experience of using core web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) 
• Experience of website development/management 
• Experience of supporting and using Microsoft SharePoint. 
• Experience of developing online services using PHP and MySQL. 
• Experience of website server administration i.e. Windows IIS and Linux Apache 
• Familiarity with web Content Management Systems 
• Experience of helping technical and non-technical users maximise the benefits of IT resources. 
• Experience of scripting / programming in a Windows environment. 
• Evidence of excellent communication skills and an organised, structured approach to working. 
• Good attention to detail. 
• Project Management experience to deliver Web platform changes. 
• Familiarity with Python. 
• Experience of working with web analytics (e.g. Google analytics) 
• Experience of database administration using MySQL/ Microsoft SQL
