Contract Description

 The role of the Information Governance lead is to act as the information security officer and should have knowledge and understanding of data safety and security. They should have a strong awareness and understanding of EU General Data Protection Regulations 2016 and the UK Data Protection Act 2018.Technical knowledge of data flows and processing activities is essential especially in regard to Record of Processing Activities (ROPA) are essential, ensuring effective management, compliance and assurance of all aspects of information governance.They should be aware of, and be able to manage, risk and associated risk assessments and registers.

This role will be answerable to the Head of Data Governance and Compliance and working will be remote / home based.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creation of relevant policies and procedures) in accordance with the IG Plan
  • Ownership of Information Governance responsibilities
  • Support for Information Governance resourcing and implementation of project via the IG Working Group 
  • Liaison and promotion of Information Governance documents
  • Co-ordination and project management of the Information Governance Plan
  • Liaison between the Information Governance Plan and Communication Plan
  • Liaison with the various working groups and project board in order to promote and integrate Information Governance standards related to the Information Governance plan
  • Ensure compliance with law and guidance as appropriate
  • Be a focal point for the resolution and/or discussion of Information Governance issues
  • NHS / Healthcare Experience is highly desirable

The Information Governance Lead must gain an understanding of the project, its aims, stages of implementation and key personnel to achieve the necessary outcomes.

The Project is to deliver the essential infrastructure for an integrated care record. This will incorporate patient data from numerous sources including, Hospital Trusts, Community Care groups, Social Services, GP Practices , etc. to provide a single view of the care record for users in the provision of care.
