Rate: Negotiable

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Length: 3 months

Working Pattern: Remote - must be within commutable distance to Oxfordshire as there may be some on site presence required if the role extends

 

Role: 

Our client is a market-leading publisher of online medical and academic journals. They are just beginning their journey to break down a legacy application and rebuild it to meet business needs whilst ensuring there is no impact for the support of multiple other products.  During the elaboration/discovery phase, you will need to use Design Thinking principles to investigate processes, people and data to understand user problems with source data, through to identifying the best first use case to execute change on. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with business stakeholders to understand, define and document organisational motivations such as problems, opportunities, outcomes and benefits
  • Dive into problems, prioritising core issues that will maximise value and business impact 
  • Use Design Thinking principles to investigate processes, people and data to understand user problems with source data
  • Scope, elicit, define, and document complex business requirements and business processes
  • Contribute to the authoring of Product Roadmaps
  • Actively manage a backlog of ideas, assess options, determine metrics
  • Liaise between remote development teams, internal IT and business

Key Skills: 

  • Experience of leading a discovery phase, assessing options and making recommendations
  • Experience of using a range of analysis and modelling techniques, for example: modelling current and desired future scenarios, business functions and processes, logic and rules, information flows and data structures
  • Previous experience of working in an agile environment and using recognised development methodology: e.g., Agile, SCRUM, and KANBAN
  • Good understanding of the agile principles, iterative development and the software development lifecycle
  • Strong communication skills that allow for effective communication across all levels of the organisation
  • Strong facilitation skills; ability to facilitate workshops
