Rates - £550 per day

About the role / project:

The Counter Terrorism Police are looking for an experienced Commercial Lead to come in and join the team. Ideally you will have a history of working within a secure Government department and have a knowledge of the Digital category.

What you will do:

  • To lead and manage the procurement and commercial activity to support the delivery of the Programme achieving defined benefits against agreed deliverables within the necessary timescales.
  • To support the Programme and wider CT category in delivering commercial services which deliver demonstrable value for money and compliant contracts using Category Management tools, techniques and latest best practice to ensure successful implementation.
  • To manage key internal relationships with client area and wider business stakeholders within the NCTPHQ, MPS, CT policing network and external partners.
  • Support the development of specifications to deliver requirements that are in line with business needs, strategy and market trends.
  • To ensure compliance with all relevant contracts and statutory requirements and NCTPHQ, MPS and MOPAC governance and in accordance with EU legislation.
  • To ensure that any agreements entered with outside organisations meet the NCTPHQ/MPS objectives in terms of quality, cost, risk and professional practice.
  • Working with the Programme to define a commercial strategy to deliver requirements and support benefits realisation.

Your experience will include:


  • Demonstrable experience in public and/or private sector procurement organisation with track record of high impact added value contribution.
  • Several years' hands of robust delivery of ICT commercial and procurement experience of complex, dynamic and commercial environments with high levels of ambiguity and impact/risk.
  • Experience in procurement projects that cross functional and business boundaries incorporating a diverse range of relevant products and services.
  • Commercially astute, strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Knowledge of EU procurement rules, including Defence.
  • Highly effective communicator who can work with a range of stakeholders and senior managers.
  • Able to manage own workload whilst balancing both operationally urgent and important tasks to deliver to deadlines.
  • Excellent written & oral communication and report writing skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to deal with complaints/escalations and bring to a successful conclusion.


  • ITIL or Prince 2 knowledge (desirable); equivalent or working towards
  • MCIPS or equivalent or working towards
