Job Role: Test Assurance Analyst

Location: Milton Keynes

Daily Rate: up to £384.89 LTD/UMBRELLA (up to £336.05 PAYE)

This role is INSIDE IR35

Job Purpose:

Providing pro-active and reactive specialist advice regarding testing and quality assurance on GBS development projects with the objective of those projects meeting the requirements defined and agreed by the business.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Manage and monitor achievement of entry and exit criteria for testing throughout the project delivery lifecycle.
  2. Preparation and execution of all GBS related (in house) test artefacts and lifecycle stages (Grip 3-8) in accordance with NRIM test assurance policy and strategy.
  3. Creation of test specifications and scripts in accordance with defined requirements and contribute to test plans and test strategies to inform effective acceptance testing by the NR business customers.
  4. Support the assurance relationship with NR business analysts and suppliers to facilitate successful achievement agreed business requirements within their project portfolio.
  5. Provide practical and technical knowledge and support to Test Assurance Manager in identifying, evaluating and further development of test tools and their application in software testing.
  6. Provide best practice knowledge to support GBS project stakeholders and suppliers in the identification, mitigation and promotion good risk based testing approaches allowing early mitigation of test related risks within the project lifecycle.
  7. Support GBS delivery teams in delivering projects on time, to cost and budget.

Your skills will include:

Essential

  • Ability to identify test conditions and relevant test data from defect documentation.
  • Experience of working with complex test requirements whilst utilising appropriate testing techniques, tools and strategies, preferably HPQC.
  • Technical knowledge of relevant hardware platforms, operating systems, middleware, Oracle products and system management, including experience of configuration and release management principles.
  • Awareness of industry and professional standards for testing and management of testing facilities e.g. IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and CMMI.
  • Knowledge in, and experience of applying testing solutions across a range of delivery, development, and software engineering life cycles, e.g. waterfall, RAD, JAD, DSDM.
  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • Experience of close collaboration working with 3rd party suppliers, key business stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Qualified test practitioner, ISEB/ISTQB Test Foundation essential and Test Practitioner, Certified Tester Advanced Level - Test Analyst highly desirable, as well as experience of V model and risk based approaches to testing.
  • Knowledge of the rail industry.
  • Able to manage own time and demanding workloads to time and quality.
