We are seeking an interim Senior Project Manager to join The Economist Group’s Project Management Office. The role will help to shape and scope a number of new Product initiatives into projects that will need to be supported by underlying business cases and project plans. These projects will have an impact across a number of business and technology stakeholders and planning needs to consider significant business change.

 

How you will contribute:

 

  • Plan end to end projects to take products from a Concept phase to a Live offering, considering Technology, Editorial, Marketing and Customer Services activities.
  • Facilitate the creation of detailed cost and benefit models to support the business case
  • Assess key risks, issues and dependencies across multiple projects
  • Proactively monitor progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action
  • Executing on the PMO-defined governance framework including facilitation of key Project forums e.g. Executive Steering Committees
  • Ensure effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the project
  • Manage project budgets alongside finance partners, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the project progresses
  • Manage communications with a range of stakeholders including at an executive level
  • Report the progress of the project at regular intervals

 

The ideal skills for this role include:

 

  • Significant experience of successfully managing and delivering complex business facing projects within a global B2C or B2B business
  • Previous experience of working within a Consulting firm is ideal
  • Excellent analytical skills and comfortable working with large financial data sets
  • Experience within the Publishing industry would be beneficial
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all level across various businesses
  • Excellent knowledge and application of project management methodology and techniques
  • Adopt pragmatic ways of working across multiple methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid)
  • Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organisational skills
  • Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
  • Able to assess complex challenges, apply a logical framework and present a compelling case for change
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent coaching / mentoring skills
  • A highly collaborative work style and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Able to manage competing priorities
  • Advanced MS Office/Google Suite skills
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in areas of significant ambiguity
  • Experience of being able to challenge and influence decisions
  • Pragmatic and flexible, with a willingness to take on different roles and responsibilities in order to successfully deliver a project
