At Sorted, we create game-changing delivery management software that sits in online checkouts, warehouses, retailer supply chains and on your smartphone. Our data-driven tech is used by some of the biggest retailers in the UK; we help them serve their global customers, making sure they have delightful delivery experiences.

At Sorted, Solution Architects are responsible for the design of software and services and works collaboratively with development, architecture, QA, and SRE teams to deliver software solutions. We're looking for a head of/Lead Solution Architect to own our platform and solution architecture.


  • Leading the architecture practice across the organisation
  • Defining and leading Sorted's architectural vision
  • Leading a team of Solution Architects including managing priorities and defining the roadmap and vision
  • Identifying the best technical solutions to solve business problems
  • Defining features, phases, and solution requirements
  • Overseeing the provision of solution specifications
  • Working collaboratively with other teams to produce solution designs
  • Assessing Sorted’s technology environment
  • Developing prototypes for solutions
  • Selecting the appropriate technical stack for a given solution
  • Managing Sorted’s Technology Radar
  • Leading the design and development of cross-cutting concerns including
    • Logging
    • Monitoring
    • Authentication and authorisation
    • Common patterns such as API design
  • Owning Sorted’s Architectural Principles


The successful candidate must have knowledge or experience of the following:

  • Managing teams
  • Owning or defining an architectural vision
  • Designing and architecting software solutions for the cloud
  • Experience working for a Software (SaaS) or Service/Product organisation
  • Identifying, documenting, and communicating solution designs to development and SRE teams
  • .NET Core or similar
  • API-based highly-available platforms
  • The ability to translate product requirements into comprehensive feature specifications including potential design solutions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Software development processes and practices, including:
    • Source control
    • Issue tracking
    • Cloud-native solution design
    • Highly-available services
  • Software security
  • Software performance
