The CME Engineering and Execution team seek an experience QA Tester initially in the in the Enterprise Data Flow Team. You will be able to help us deliver a new high profile and mission critical project in CMEs Big Data platform focusing on the derivation and distribution of new and existing data sets.

The Analyst will work closely with application SMEs, Architects, central Analysis group and business colleagues to understand the strategy and project deliveries for technology advances in CME's data platform. This individual will quickly understand complex business problems, and be able to document and communicate requirements clearly for successful delivery of changes to our data platform. The analyst will also be supremely comfortable in a technical environment and understand the criticality of non-functional requirements. They will relish working with an application where big data processing, data flow performance, the capacity to seamlessly facilitate the busiest trading days in the world economy, rock-solid reliability and integrity are all key facets. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively, balance multiple stakeholders, and possess the ability to steer the success of the team by ensuing focus is always maintained on the highest priorities.

Principal Accountabilities

Identifies environment needs in support of testing needs.

Participates in preliminary story review, providing constructive feedback and input on work effort estimation as well as design.

Works with analysts to interpret high level requirements, decomposing them into acceptance criteria and test cases.

Defines and writes test scenarios - both white box and black box.

Executes functional tests and/or works closely with the development organization in developing automated tests, verifying and reporting on actual results vs. expected results.

Troubleshoots application issues - identifies risk and escalates appropriately.

Reports on/tracks application defects.

Contributes to automated regression testing, and other automation efforts.

Owns the delivery of quality control and assurance across the application, gating application releases and deployments.

Expected to develop a network of relationships within the organization in order to achieve results and to effectively communicate vision and status both within/across teams as well as to management.

Contributes to continuous improvement efforts.

Embraces and enforces CME Group SDLC and information security standards.

Essential Criteria

Bachelor 's degree (with honours) or equivalent/better strongly preferred, but substantial relevant experience could substitute.

Significant experience in QA execution and planning.

Knowledge and experience of SDLC methodologies; agile is a big advantage.

Ability to understand and absorb business & technology concepts quickly.

Excellent problem solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Prior experience working with BDD methodologies (Cucumber) and automated acceptance criteria.

Experience of using Linux platform, commands, and scripts.

Desirable Criteria

Knowledge of testing methodologies for cloud based services and applications.

Experience of financial markets/exchange space and working with financial applications.

Knowledge of financial messaging protocols, and in particular FIX.

Experience working in organisations with colleagues in other locations.

Experience of testing in a story-driven, agile environment.

Ansible.
