Role: Senior L&D Consultant

Location: London, Paddington

Rate: £439.37 per day (LTD/Umbrella) or £383.62 per day (PAYE)

IN SCOPE OF IR35

Job Purpose:

Lead and determine what quality assurance standards to apply in the analysis & design stages so that the Network Rail Training design team consistently deliver creative, cost effective training solutions for internal and external rail industry customers.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Direct the analysis and design of innovative, engaging, and effective training (and development) events for all delivery methods to achieve customer requirements.
  2. Manage project allocations and workload within the design group. In collaboration with the relevant Portfolio Manager and the Media Development Manager, align priorities and provide progress updates to all key stakeholders.
  3. Establish quality standards required for all analysis and design activities, and define skill sets required of the training design team in order to deliver agreed quality of outputs.
  4. Lead on establishing and maintaining relationships with external customers to understand their requirements and provide to them their training solution.
  5. Establish processes for undertaking quality assurance activities. Undertake regular evaluation of the quality assurance processes, and implement improvements.
  6. Monitor best practice approaches and innovations in training methodologies in order to drive continuous improvement initiatives for the analysis and design all training solutions.
  7. Determine and manage the value for money proposition for 'make (in-house development) versus buy (outsourced)' decisions for all activities, for both in-year and business planning. Undertake regular reviews to evaluate ongoing cost effectiveness and quality of 'make or buy' options, and associated approved technical authoring agencies and suppliers.
  8. Lead the performance and development of the training designers in accordance with Network Rail performance management policies. Take appropriate and timely action to identify and address any skills, capability, or behavioural development needs so that productivity and quality are not compromised and the reputations of NR Training and the team are upheld.

Your skills will include:

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in designing, developing, and publishing creative, innovative, and effective multimedia learning products , across a diverse range of formats and delivery methods
  • Demonstrable leadership, stakeholder and team management capabilities
  • Self starter; able to motivate and set goals for self and others, and achieve agreed outcomes
  • Ability to demonstrate personal accountability when striving for results, whilst consistently role-modelling core behaviours of collaboration and customer-centred decision making.
  • Ability to assess and challenge risky or unsafe actions, or poor behaviours of others.
  • A relevant learning and development qualification (eg, CIPD L&D), or project or programme management qualification (eg, APM), or evidence of demonstrable equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Experience of large, complex, organisations in a heavily regulated industry sector
  • Understanding of risk identification and the application of control measures
