Contract Description

The CAE Project Management Office is a thriving and ever-growing environment catering presales engagements and projects for the delivery of Professional Services for IT Networks, Infrastructure and Systems. The PMO team sits within a wider Professional Services department, which encompasses an expert field-based technical team.

 

You will take total accountability for planning, structuring, leading, financial management and executing projects of medium risk and complexity incorporating LAN, WAN, WLAN, collaboration, application deployments, migrations, upgrades and associated deliveries. You will take full ownership of managing each project, from inception to completion, and manage each project team consisting of lead consultants, consultants, engineers and coordinators, as well as third parties and partners.

 

This role be based in Edinburgh (remote until safe to be in the office), it is possible that you may be required to attend CAE’s head office in Watford at least once or twice a month for team meetings and training.

 

It is desirable that the applicant comes from a financial institution background, but this is not essential.

 

We are supporting a client of ours as they build a new PMO function. This is a 3-month opportunity which may extend or have the opportunity to go permanent.

 

 

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Project Management, planning, managing, reporting and customer communications
  • Manage resource bookings through CAE’s PMO support team
  • Manage, liaise, coordinate CAE onsite technical resources
  • Deal courteously with clients in person and by telephone or email
  • Liaise with all project team members and client staff to achieve, as a minimum, good outcome
  • Keep logs, highlight reports, prepare documentation, complete timesheets and keep company system information and project financials up to date on a weekly basis
  • Report progress against plan
  • Deal efficiently with unexpected events
  • Effectively manage risk and issues, internally and externally, with communication up to board level
  • Achieve quality and productivity requirements without supervision
  • Report project profit and loss figures
  • Consolidate and analyse profitability, revenue, margins and utilisation across projects
  • Ensure projects meet or exceed budgeted financial objectives
  • Report progress against plans, tracking an accurate % of work completed, as well as resource and revenue forecasts
  • Employ CAE’s internal processes and systems in order to update and report on all required metrics
  • Adhere to CAE’s project-related governance processes
  • Updating tickets in a timely fashion, with relevant details to ensure all parties are aware of the current state of the work
  • Adhere to internal OLAs and SLAs
  • Control project records of attendance, timekeeping, budgets & expenses
  • Manage projects to deliver superior solutions to customers
  • Always present solutions and options to management with all impacts and financial considerations considered for both CAE and the client
  • Mentor Project Coordinators aligned to assigned projects
  • Accept change and effectively manage the implementation of new ideas
  • Provide cover for your team mates during absences
  • Comply with all Security, Safety, Health & Environmental responsibilities and requirements as detailed in the Company’s Security, Health & Safety and Environmental Policies.
  • Ad-hoc tasks in support of PMO activities as directed by your manager

Knowledge & Experience

Required

  • Good knowledge of project management best practice methodologies
  • Knowledge of service management best practices
  • Have a good command of all MS Office applications, particularly MS Word and MS Excel for report generation & number crunching
  • At least 4-5 years previous project manager experience within a fast-paced IT technology environment
  • Networking, infrastructure, application deployment and IT experience
  • Experience interacting with stakeholders at all levels courteously and efficiently to provide information and resolve problems
  • Experience with the creation of project documentation
  • Experience with the presentation and communication of project documentation to board level
  • Experience taking full accountability for planning, structuring, leading, financial management of all assigned projects
  • Experience with taking full responsibility for managing entire project teams
  • Have a strong understanding of the core technical competencies within CAE

Qualifications & Training
