Contract Description

The GCP TA role is to develop technical strategy & standards for the GCP foundation platform. Working within the GCP core team of Engineers, Product managers, Operational compliance and Service delivery leads. The TA is the technical authority for the HSBC GCP core platform and responsible for all key design decisions. The role faces off to applications teams to advising on application architecture and designs that are hosted on GCP. Working with the Cloud Enterprise Architects the TA is accountable for alignment to the cloud strategy, standards, policy and governance.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Act as the design authority on Architecture and key design decisions for the GCP Foundation Platform
  • Ensure all non Functional requirements for the platform meet Business needs and BCP requirements
  • Develop an operational Risk framework to manage business risk
  • Ensure all relevant architecture governance, policy, and standards are met
  • Accountable for managing engagement with Audit and all audit responses
  • Act as 3rd level support for the GCP foundation platform
  • Provide GCP specific consultancy to the GB/GF's and Solutions Architects for technical architecture & design patterns for solutions hosted on the GCP Foundation Platform
  • Represent the GCP platform in architectural discussions with internal IT partners and Google
  • Develop and promote the reuse of patterns
  • Maintain and manage all customer facing information and knowledge bases for Platform Architecture, Solution Design and key design decisions
  • Provide Management reporting to ensure data driven discussions for continuous improvement
  • Gather requirements and provide continuous feedback loops between customer and Engineering teams

The ideal candidate for this role will have the below experience and qualifications:

  • Have worked as an Architect in an enterprise organisation
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Non Functional Requirements
  • Demonstrable Cloud service provider experience - infrastructure build and configurations of a variety of services including Compute, Containers, Container OS and Container orchestration (eg Docker, COS, GKE) Storage, IAM, SDN (VPC and XPN)
  • Experience of working with Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD) and continuous testing techniques and tools
  • An understanding of Identity and Access management principles and tools
  • An understanding of role based access controls and organisational hierarchies
  • Experience in working in a global cross functional service management team
  • Experience in dealing with multiple support groups that contribute to creating a service
  • Have worked in an enterprise Financial Services company
  • Customer/stakeholder focus. Ability to build strong relationships with Application teams, cross functional IT and global/local IT teams
  • Good leadership and teamwork skills - Works collaboratively in an agile environment with Stakeholders to deliver the service.
  • Operational effectiveness - delivers solutions that align to approved design patterns and security, risk and regulatory standards
  • A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change

Essential Skills

  • GCP Architecture Certification
  • Experience working as an Architect or relevant equivalent
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Risk Management in an enterprise
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Non Functional requirements
  • Experience dealing with IT Audit, Security and Risk
  • Experience working in a global team in an enterprise
  • Have experience managing stakeholders
  • Have excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Keen problem solving skills (Analytical and Creative)

Desirable Skills

  • Open CA or TOGAF Certifications
  • Technical knowledge (Directory Services, Google Identity, Physical Networking, Firewalls, SDN, XPN, Billing, Operating Systems, Containers, GCP Resource Hierarchy)
  • Experience operating in Financial Services
