Contract Description

The GCP Scrum Master will work within the globally distributed Google Cloud platform team ensuring that the book of work is tracked, prioritised and delivered to the highest quality in a timely manner. Working with the GCP engineering team, Product Managers, ITID engineering and delivery teams and customers to ensure that all tasks are recorded, prioritised, estimated, capacity planned and delivered on time. Agree a hybrid agile process based on known standards (eg Scrum, Kanban, XP Etc.) and coach the team in best practice. Be accountable for the full Engineering delivery life cycle. The role defines the metrics used to track continuous process improvement and works with other up and down stream suppliers to ensure an efficient operating model. Implementation of process, practices and tools that are simple, consistent, efficient and flexible.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Act as the customer point of contact for all Engineering requests
  • Create a self-service engineering request process
  • Own and maintain health of the Backlog.
  • Plan and manage all agile related ceremonies (Stand ups, Sprint cycles, planning and estimation, Retrospectives)
  • Maintain and manage all engineering and customer facing information and knowledge bases
  • Gather requirements and provide continuous feedback loops between customer and Engineering teams
  • Provide Management reporting to ensure data driven discussions for continuous improvement eg Velocity, Burn down etc.
  • Define both quantitative and qualitative metrics to use for continuous improvement
  • Own and administrate tools (Jira, GSD and Confluence)

The ideal candidate for this role will have the below experience and qualifications:

  • Experience in building globally distributed agile teams
  • Managed an agile teams
  • An understanding of the full SDLC
  • Experience in dealing with Cloud service providers
  • Experience in dealing with multiple support teams in the supply chain
  • Have worked in an enterprise Financial Services company
  • Customer/stakeholder focus. Ability to build strong relationships with Application teams, cross functional IT and global/local IT teams
  • Be Agile (DaD) certified
  • Be a certified Project Manager (eg PMP, Prince2)
  • An understanding of CSP's and their services (Google, AWS, Azure)
  • Good leadership and teamwork skills - Works collaboratively in an agile environment with Stakeholders to deliver the service.
  • Risk management effectiveness
  • A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change
  • Set and achieved challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their field
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
  • Built effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same
