DevOps Engineer (Contract) - Polecat Location: Bristol, UK Duration: 3-month period (possible extension up to 6 months) Polecat is looking for a results-driven DevOps Engineer with a strong background in AWS services, Kubernetes, Ansible and Terraform to assist with the migration and upgrade of our technical stack. The candidate will be hired on a contract basis for an initial three-month period, with the possibility of extending to six months if required. This is an exciting opportunity at a leading company within the cutting-edge sphere of Artificial Intelligence and Reputation. As the DevOps Engineer, you will be collaborating with other DevOps Engineers as well as the wider product team to work on provisioning new environments to AWS using the latest infrastructure as code, configuration management and container orchestration tooling. As such, a strong amount of expertise in Terraform, Kubernetes, Ansible and AWS cloud computing services is required. Responsibilities: * Leverage infrastructure as code/as a service to manage and optimise multiple cloud environments and scale systems to meet requirements * Design and streamline build/release procedures using CI/CD tools and methodology * Ensure the health and uptime of critical systems and applications with pro-active monitoring, analyzing metrics, implementing best practices, and strong troubleshooting skills * Develop and apply maintainable, well-tested automation scripting and code for configuration management. * Team up with DevOps and other teams in supporting application platforms in their production environments * Maintain and optimise a number of data stores and processing pipelines as part of ongoing work on ingestion and enrichment of collected data * Work on the ongoing virtualization of polecat applications and their deployment using container orchestration platforms Requirements * 5+ years experience in DevOps roles, Bachelor 's degree in Computer Science or related field * Extensive experience with container orchestration platforms (Docker Swarm, Kubernetes) * Background in AWS cloud compute services * Strong experience with configuration management tools (Ansible) * Knowledge of build/release/deploy software lifecycles (Jenkins, Git, CI/CD, Nexus) * Good scripting abilities (Bash/Python) * Practical experience with big data stores (Elasticsearch, Postgresql) and data processing pipelines (Apache Kafka, Kafka Streams) is a benefit * Passion and energy to work in a start-up, entrepreneurial, and fast paced environment.
