Partnerships Senior Project Manager

Reports: Director, Program Partnerships

Location: Brighton HQ - United Kingdom

Position Overview

Avalara is seeking a well tenured Senior Project Manager / Programme Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a fast-growing, fast paced, organisation.

New European regulations mean a fundamental change to both our Core and Partnerships business model.

This will be (in part) a Client facing role, responsible for the successful delivery of a new Business and Operating Model and Tax Compliance service. It will involve the creation of a brand new line of business and associated Operational and Technical Solutions.

The ideal candidate will be able to operate at senior levels and co-ordinate teams across multiple global locations.

Responsibilities Include

  • Implement a Project Governance structure across multiple teams, located globally
  • Ensuring Legislation is interpreted by industry experts and understood across the business to be able to go to market with a new Tax Compliance Offering
  • Ensure roles and responsibilities are clear across all levels of the business
  • Ensure deliverables are clear and interdependencies across workstreams are understood
  • Scoping and planning of various workstreams
  • Create and manage Risk Register
  • Liaising with internal and external teams for day-to-day reporting
  • Driving resolution of key issues including defining and managing remediation activities
  • Ensuring Implementation plans for impact to customers both internally and externally are considered
  • Produce MI for Programme Board to agreed time and quality standards
  • Prepare Executive for meetings at both a local and global level with senior executive audiences

The position is based in Brighton, UK. The position will report into the Partner Program Director with key stakeholders including Engineering, Product Management and MRS (Managed Returns Services) located globally.

Skills & Experience

  • Good planning and organisational skills; strong leadership, people and communications skills; strong analytical skills, with a proven ability to persuade and influence senior decision-making.
  • Experience of matrix working and ability to work wide a range of internal and external suppliers
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, possess a high degree of flexibility and work well within a cross-functional team capacity.
  • Experience with VAT and GST calculation and reporting technologies an advantage
  • Experience of Agile an advantage
