Defence Project Manager (Contract)
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Project Manager to join our fast growing management consultancy as a contractor.
Overview of role
Techmodal are seeking a talented Project Manager contractors to work on a variety of interesting projects for our Defence client based at Cambridge Airport within the Air Support department.
Based on a common software approach with potential international partners, the Capability Upgrade Sustainment Project (CUSP) will also address Precision Based Navigation (PBN) compliance challenges.

Duties Are As Follows

  • Working with stakeholders to define the requirement.
  • Working with stakeholders to agree the certification strategy.
  • Attendance at all meetings with the contractor internal stakeholders at progress meetings, risk reviews, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with DE&S Project Management processes and procedures.
  • Review of contractor's progress payment claims to ensure that work claimed has been completed before payment is made by MoD
  • Coordination with stakeholders to ensure timely responses to contractor requests for information
  • Ensure compliance with the approvals process for all contracted activity
  • Managing and monitoring the budget for additional work and providing early warning of budget issues
  • Communication and reporting to the C-130J Delivery Team Line Manager

The daily rate will be £342.
The contract periods would be 6 months initially with potential to extend.
The roles offer flexible hours and options to work from home.

As a Project Manager, Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Supporting and shaping client project delivery through suitable planning, monitoring, controlling and performance reporting.
  • Identifying risk and remedial actions
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and management processes.
  • Ensuring client business needs are met by specifying the programme/projects
  • Leading and championing the application of suitable programme and project delivery strategies
  • Conducting background research, data collection and benchmarking.
  • Establishing effective processes and systems to be used throughout a project
  • Promoting positive working relationships with different stakeholders
  • Preparing materials for projects and reports on progress etc.

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Hold valid security clearance (SC) to work on site (essential)
  • Hold a UK passport
  • Have strong knowledge of the defence industry
  • Be an expert in the P3M practices
  • Ideally a PRINCE2 Practitioner
  • Ideally AMPM - Certified Project Management Associate
  • Ideally a Member of the Association for Project Management (MAPM)
  • Have a track record of successful project delivery
