Join our ambitious and highly-regarded Operations Transformation team and work with us to address some of the most high profile and challenging issues facing our clients across the Private Sector today. Our Digital Process & Automation team works across multiple industry sectors and are industry leaders in delivering strategic business design and operational improvement. We are looking for likeminded individuals who want to be involved in designing the digital business of the future.


Your Role


As a Senior Consultant within our Digital Process & Automation team you will help clients transform their business models in order to enable them to adapt to a changing market, reduce cost and/ or increase efficiency within their organisation and across their end to end value chain.


You will apply an understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles and advanced analytics to determine the root causes to the challenges our clients face whilst applying the latest in digital process design such as process automation, artificial intelligence and cognitive solutions to address these challenges. These solutions will be informed by effective stakeholder engagement, robust data analysis, and an understanding of the readiness and suitability of enabling technologies. You will work in agile teams to implement prioritised initiatives, deliver target outcomes, and radically transform our clients businesses. You will be the one driving the 4th Industrial Revolution and reimagining how our private sector clients operate day to day.


You will support our clients to deliver complex international programmes, often working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, ranging from our strategy, technology and human capital teams to deliver a full spectrum of consulting services starting from imagine, deliver and run. You will develop your management capabilities leading and managing project workstreams and teams, and engaging with a diverse set of client stakeholders "from C-suite to shop floor ", across business and IT functions. You will also play an active role in contributing to the growth of Deloitte's Operations Transformation capability team, within Business Operations.


Our aim is to leverage the industry experience we have across our team in parallel with our experience in digital technologies and operational/ process design, blending strategic thinking with technology expertise to develop and implement effective and efficient operational delivery models. Deloitte practitioners are frequently the people in our clients' programmes who drive a step-change improvement in the speed and quality of delivery. In particular we are seeing an increasing focus on delivering value to clients quickly through agile techniques.


The nature of the work varies but your work is likely to involve the following:


  • xc2 Manage and support end to end current state process analysis, value stream mapping and improvement opportunity identification.
  • Undertake process analysis (including advanced analytics) to determine where digital solutions will make the maximum impact.
  • Supporting clients on the impact of digital on their business, and how they can look to embrace emerging technologies and ways of thinking to improve their business operations and teams;
  • Working with our clients to understand their operations today to design and deliver digital processes that are fit for purpose and successfully realise their strategic intent;
  • Assisting client teams working across diverse parts of an organisation to identify challenges and develop solutions to address;
  • Understanding the dependencies between process, technology, organisation design and data (and other elements) in developing a solution for our client;
  • Working as part of a team with senior clients (frequently engaging C-suite level);
  • Supporting strategic reviews of entire operations or functions within organisations at a system, organisation, service or functional level;
  • Providing support to client teams in identifying areas of innovation and automation that encourage new ways of working and enhance the existing operating model.
  • Leading small project teams, components of engagements and identifying opportunities for the firm to improve engagement profitability.
  • Demonstrating the firm's capability and identifying opportunities for client needs.

Location: London with UK travel


Work pattern: This is a contract opportunity. The role is on a full-time basis.



Your professional experience


Essential criteria:


  • Experience of working on operational improvement, strategy or transformation projects;
  • Demonstrable experience of managing relationships across a broad range of stakeholder groups;
  • Supported or led the design and delivery of large automation or process improvement programmes;
  • Experience in Robotics, Cognitive and Automation digital tools, such as IBM Watson, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere and Google AI products;
  • Experience using digital process tools such as Celonis and Signavio;
  • Knowledge of implementing digital products;
  • Understanding client needs and translating them into feasible solutions aligned with their business strategy;
  • Experience of performing robust, methodical data analysis on large datasets to inform recommendations;
  • Experience of leading small teams;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of working with senior business leaders;
  • Quick thinkers - 'ability to think on your feet' and adapt where necessary;
  • A real passion and enthusiasm for digital process and automation and thinking creatively to solve client issues;


Ideally you will also have one or more of the following:


  • Lean Six Sigma principles and toolkit;
  • Agile delivery approach and methodology;
  • Experience of working on high-profile and complex engagements;
  • Scrum master experience;
  • Awareness of using customer centric design principles to deliver outstanding innovative solutions;
  • Experience in applying data visualisation and data analytics tools to support decision making;
  • Previous consulting experience, whether as an independent advisor or in-house within industry;
  • Good knowledge of consulting methodologies and tools;
  • Experience in Tableau or other visualisation tools
