Magento 2 Engineer - CONTRACT

London, England, United Kingdom · Engineering & Technology · 07111

DESCRIPTION

About the role: This is a position within one of our product development teams that will be assisting the delivery of a diverse number of e-commerce projects. It would be a highly technical and hands-on role that would suit an experienced developer, as you will provide experience and expertise to a product development team, and the wider e-commerce development group, with projects built on predominantly but not limited to PHP based technologies. A major focus of this role is the ability to work with Magento 2, with past experience of Magento 1 being an added bonus.

The Skills: All our teams are multi-discipline, so a candidate would have a mix of some (or ideally all) the following skills:

  • Backend development (PHP or node.js or python)
  • PHP > 5.3 development (Magento 1 and 2)
  • Continuous Integration, Deployment and Delivery
  • Source control (git)
  • Database Systems and Design (Mysql or MS-SQL)
  • Amazon Web Services (or any other experience of building large scale, distributed web applications)
  • Behaviour and Test driven development practices
  • Agile Project Management (Scrum or Kanban)
  • Web design (HTML, CSS, JS)
  • Frontend Development (Angular or Backbone.js or Vue.js or React.js)

This role offers challenges across a wide variety of projects and responsibilities, including the opportunity to influence the future direction of the product your team is responsible for, and possibly even the rest of the e-commerce department as a whole.

REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will help to deliver digital services to our customers, our partners or other departments within the business.

Within the teams you’ll be working with other developers, UX designers, systems administrators and a Team lead to ensure the delivery of e-commerce development projects, whilst helping instil quality through mentorship to more junior developers.

Providing expertise and experience to the wider product development teams, through assisting with software design practice, review of implementation and guidance in the form of presenting on key topics.

Conducting orientation sessions and assisting with interviews for new hires are some of the secondary concerns for the role, albeit this would depend on each individual instance.

You will also be expected to help maintain operation of the web services in production at times.

The Person: The candidate needs to be hard-working, self-motivate, care about doing things the ‘right way’ and be passionate about building and delivering cutting edge web services for large audiences.
