Email Marketing + Automation Specialist at Intend, Manchester Area, £Freelance Rate

Contract Description

Email Marketing + Automation Specialist (Freelance)

Freelance Contract with Intend Marketing

About Us

We’re a small but growing marketing team based in Manchester, helping ambitious brands improve the performance and sophistication of their marketing systems.

Right now, we’re at an exciting stage of growth where we’re building the backend infrastructure behind stronger campaigns, better visibility, smarter automation and more scalable client delivery.

We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys both the strategic and technical side of marketing;  someone excited by problem solving, systems, data and figuring out how to make marketing perform better.

The Role

We’re looking for a freelance Email Marketing + Automation Specialist to support client delivery and help strengthen the backend systems that power our marketing work.

This role is a mix of:

  • email marketing strategy + execution
  • CRM and automation setup
  • funnel and conversion tracking
  • reporting and optimisation
  • connecting platforms and data sources so everything works smoothly together

You’ll be working closely with us as an extension of the team, not hidden away completing isolated tasks.

What You’ll Own

You’ll support stronger client retention and marketing performance through:

  • email campaigns and flows
  • CRM optimisation
  • funnel tracking
  • marketing automation
  • backend systems and integrations

Your responsibilities will likely include:

  • improving attribution visibility across campaigns
  • increasing lead and conversion tracking accuracy
  • supporting campaign reporting and analytics
  • building scalable backend systems and automations
  • connecting tools using Zapier, APIs or native integrations
  • spotting gaps or opportunities in existing client setups
Skills & Experience

We’re ideally looking for someone with:

  • 3+ years experience delivering and leading email marketing campaigns
  • strong understanding of CRM systems and marketing automation
  • confidence using GA4 and analytics tools
  • experience connecting systems and data sources across the marketing funnel
  • the ability to think both strategically and technically

Bonus points if you’ve worked with tools such as:

  • Klaviyo
  • Mailchimp
  • Go High Level (GHL)
  • Zapier
  • GA4
  • Meta Ads
  • Shopify
  • LinkedIn Ads

Who You Are

You’re:

  • proactive and self-led
  • a problem solver who enjoys figuring things out
  • comfortable taking ownership without needing constant direction
  • happy speaking up, sharing ideas and suggesting improvements
  • easy to work with and communicative

This role is probably not for you if:

  • you need heavy day-to-day management
  • you only specialise in content or social media
  • you dislike analytics or backend systems
  • you prefer very rigid structures and processes
Pay & Structure
  • Freelance contract role
  • Initial 21-hour project contract
  • Starting from £40/hour depending on experience
  • Potential to grow with us as the business expands
  • Mostly remote and flexible, with occasional calls during UK working hours
Why Join Us

We’re still small enough that your ideas, input and work will genuinely shape how we grow.

Our aim is to build a team of 4–5 over the next 1–2 years, so we’re looking for someone who wants to grow with us rather than just complete tasks and disappear.

You’ll have the freedom to:

  • bring ideas to the table
  • improve systems and processes
  • work closely with founders
  • make a real impact on client results

We value trust, initiative, communication and good energy above all else.
