Product Engineer (Full Stack & AI-Native) at Sofa King Digital, Remote, £Contract Rate

We are a stealth-mode startup building a premium digital ecosystem designed to solve the Connectivity Paradox in the UK business market. We are bridging the gap between social networking and high-value transactional brokerage for business owners and investors.

We are looking for a Product Engineer—not just a ticket-taker, but a builder who understands that code is a means to a business end. You will work directly with the Lead Product Manager/Architect to build, ship, and iterate on our MVP.

This is not a traditional dev role. We embrace an Agentic SDLC. We don't want you typing boilerplate; we want you architecting solutions, utilizing AI tools (Copilot, Agents) to accelerate velocity, and applying your seniority to review, secure, and deploy that code.

• Frontend: React, Next.js (App Router), Tailwind CSS, Framer Motion.
• Backend: Supabase (Auth, Database, Edge Functions).
• Payments: Stripe Connect & Subscriptions.
• Tooling: GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or OpenCode (AI-assisted workflow is mandatory).
• Mobile (Future): React Native / Expo.

• Build the Engine: Execute on a high-fidelity Product Requirements Document (PRD) to deliver the web-based MVP.
• AI-Augmented Development: Act as the Senior Architect to an AI Junior Developer. You will use AI to generate foundational code, but you are responsible for reviewing, refining, and securing it.
• Security Gatekeeper: specifically regarding AuthZ/AuthN and Payments. You must ensure no AI-generated hallucinations introduce vulnerabilities in our logic.
• Ship Fast: We have a tight delivery roadmap. You will move from File > New to Production in weeks, not months.
• Voice of the Product: Provide feedback on UI/UX and logic. If a feature seems over-engineered, we want you to push back with a simpler solution.

• A Product Engineer: You care about the user experience as much as the database schema. You can look at a mock-up and fill in the blanks without needing a 20-page spec for every button.
• AI-Pragmatic: You understand the risks and rewards of AI coding tools. You know how to prompt for complex logic and how to spot the subtle bugs AI leaves behind.
• Supabase Expert: You are comfortable with Row Level Security (RLS) policies and don't need to spin up a custom Express server when a serverless function will do.
• Senior Mindset: You write clean, maintainable code but understand that perfect is the enemy of shipped.

• Experience with Expo/React Native (we have a mobile fast-follow planned).
• Experience building Directory or Marketplace platforms.
• Knowledge of UK GDPR compliance requirements.
