z/OS Systems Programmer at Vertali, United Kingdom, £Contract Rate

Senior z/OS Systems Programmer needed for a hands‑on contract role delivering upgrades, performance tuning, and complex mainframe problem‑solving — Broadcom or equivalent tooling experience welcome.

We need a senior, hands‑on z/OS Systems Programmer to support and optimise our IBM mainframe environment. You’ll lead SMP/E, JES2, WLM, performance tuning, and complex issue resolution. Experience with Broadcom, BMC, IBM, ASG or similar tooling is welcome. Strong REXX/JCL and the ability to deliver independently are essential.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain and optimise z/OS, JES2, WLM, TCP/IP, RACF integration, and core subsystems
• Lead SMP/E, IPL planning, PARMLIB updates, and system upgrades
• Troubleshoot high‑priority production and performance issues
• Manage DASD, catalogues, HCD/HCM, and I/O config

Tooling Experience (Broadcom or Equivalent)

Experience with Broadcom/CA, BMC, IBM, ASG, or similar mainframe tooling in areas such as:

• Automation (OPS/MVS, System Automation, MainView, etc.)
• Scheduling (CA‑7, Control‑M, TWS/IWS)
• Change management (Endevor, ISPW, Changeman)
• Tape/storage management (CA‑1, RMM, TLMS)
