About the Role

We’re seeking a passionate and skilled Java Engineer to join our Digital Services team. This initiative is driven by legislative changes from the Student Loans Service, requiring updates to our ITSD service functional code. It’s a unique opportunity to work on a high-impact project that directly supports students across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices using Java and Spring Boot
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement changes driven by legislative requirements
  • Contribute to front-end development using Angular (for candidates with relevant skills)
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
  • Conduct thorough software testing and debugging
  • Monitor application performance and ensure reliability
  • Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

The team are predominantly Telford based and we will be looking to have team days each week in the office whenever appropriate to meet the Hybrid Working standards. The ITSD service is technically still a BETA service with a small number of users. However over the next few years this is expected to grow exponentially as use of ITSA is mandated. This is an exciting time to join the team.
