Senior DevOps Engineer Consultant - CloudFormation to Pulumi Migration (Outside IR35)

Contract Type: Fixed-term project delivery (3-6 months), Outside IR35.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer Consultant to lead a critical infrastructure migration project. You will be responsible for taking ownership of and driving the migration from Serverless/CloudFormation to Pulumi within a live production environment. This is a results based engagement focussing on achieving defined deliverables within an agreed timeframe.

Project Deliverables:

  • Lead, refine, execute and complete the migration plan of AWS infrastructure from Serverless/ CloudFormation to Pulumi.
  • Ensure minimal disruption and maintain system stability through to the completion of the migration.
  • Documentation of the new infrastructure and migration process.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to integrate the new infrastructure into code-base, CI/CD and ongoing development within the contract duration.
  • Troubleshoot and rapidly/efficiently resolve any issues that arise during and after the migration.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Expertise in developing and maintaining IaC with Pulumi, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
  • Previous successful delivery migrating from CloudFormation to Pulumi in a production environment.
  • Strong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Deep understanding of the AWS stack, including: API Gateway, Cognito, SNS/SQS, ALB, VPC, Global Accelerator, Redis, DynamoDB, and OpenSearch.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Bitbucket Pipelines) and orchestration tools (SpaceLift).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Node.js).
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in an agile team using collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence).

Commercial Terms:

  • Daily rate payable based on completion of agreed project activities and deliverables.
  • Invoicing on a monthly basis for days allocated to project deliverables
  • Consultant responsible for own tax arrangements and insurance
  • No payment for days not worked (including holidays, illness, etc.)
  • Expenses to be agreed in advance and billed separately if required
