The Government Property Agency is an Executive Agency of the cabinet office. It is changing the way the Civil Service works and is at the forefront of Government 's transformation agenda; reshaping the relationship civil servants have with their place of work. The Agency is central to the delivery of key Government policies including moving 22,000 Civil Service roles out of London by 2030 and tackling climate change by contributing to the Net Zero agenda. To do this we are delivering a major change programme across the UK and consolidating our portfolio in order to save £1.4 Bn over 10 years. Beyond the bricks and mortar, the GPA is about providing great workplaces for our people. As an AI Transformation Lead your main responsibilities will be:

  • Oversee the integration and expansion of critical digital platforms to support a smart and digitally enabled building environment.
  • Drive advanced integrations for emergent technologies including Smart Buildings, Digital Twin, BIM, and IoT, ensuring these technologies seamlessly link to the overarching digital ecosystem.
  • Shape a digital workplace that supports the creation of sustainable, energy-efficient office environments.
  • Leverage data-rich insights and digitally enabled processes to enhance building performance, occupant experience, and overall asset sustainability.
  • Collaborate with workplace and sustainability teams to integrate cutting-edge digital solutions in building management and operational workflows.
  • Champion a culture of continuous innovation and digital transformation across the department.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure robust alignment and efficient rollout of AI initiatives across both digital platforms and physical infrastructures.
  • Develop and enforce risk management frameworks addressing data privacy, algorithmic bias, and cybersecurity for all AI and automation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with compliance and legal teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and ethical standards in the deployment of AI.
  • Continuously monitor and address emerging risks, ensuring the department's digital transformation remains sustainable and secure.
  • Build and lead a high-performing, cross-functional team that includes data scientists, engineers, process experts, and digital strategists.
  • Promote continuous professional development and cross-training across AI, RPA, low-code platforms, and emerging digital technologies.
  • Encourage a collaborative and agile culture that supports innovation at every stage of the digital transformation journey.

Essential:

  • Domain Knowledge: Understanding the specific industry or application area where AI is being applied is crucial for effective problem-solving and solution development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of AI Playbook for the UK Government.
  • Knowledge and understanding of AI Opportunities Action Plan.
  • Proven expertise in delivering AI and other technologies in a public sector environment.
  • Proven experience in leading AI projects within an engineering and manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of creating low code/no code automation using Microsoft PowerApps, Power Automate and wider Power Platform.
  • Experience of robotic process automation (RPA) (e.g. UiPath) 
  • Strong understanding of AI technologies, machine learning algorithms, and data analytics

Desirable:

  • Machine Learning and AI Fundamentals: A deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, models, and techniques is crucial. 
  • Programming Proficiency: Skills in languages like Python or R are essential for developing and implementing AI solutions. 
  • Data Science and Analytics: Experience with data analysis, data modeling, and data engineering is vital for building and deploying AI systems. 
  • Strategic Vision: The ability to develop and execute an AI strategy that aligns with overall business goals is essential. 
  • Project Management: Experience in planning, organizing, and managing complex AI projects, including budget and resource allocation.
  • Change Management: Ability to guide and manage organisational changes related to the introduction and implementation of new AI technologies.
