Contract Description

Synechron is working with a leading financial organisation on a long term, large scale program of work reducing software technical debt across a server estate. We are looking for an experienced Server Engineer to analyse inventory data and propose actions, with the purpose of reducing software technical debt and reporting on progress.

This role is based from Edinburgh with hybrid working.

Role:

  • Perform software installs, removals and upgrades following ITIL change process
  • Perform Operating system in place upgrades following ITIL change process
  • Perform actions to the specifications laid out by Leads and Product Owners
  • Perform troubleshooting and incident and problem management related to tech debt reduction and meet service level objectives
  • Work with server owners to agree and schedule activities

Role Requirements:

  • Experience of software management
  • Experience of Amazon Linux essential with Red Hat and Windows Server an advantage
  • Experience of relevant automation tools
  • Experience with Application Management SSCM - packaging, installing, removing
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred:

  • ITIL foundation
  • AWS experience
  • VMware knowledge
  • Incident and problem management skills
  • Project delivery skills working in small to medium sized projects
