Remote Mid-Weight WordPress Developer

Insight Consultancy are a small but busy WordPress agency committed to delivering top-notch, custom-built websites for our diverse range of clients. We are looking for a passionate and skilled Mid-Weight WordPress Developer to join our team and contribute to our mission of creating bespoke digital experiences.

We are based in Leicester, but our team works remotely from locations across the UK. The role is fully remote, but if you are based near or around Leicester, our office is open for you to work in if you wish.

Full time, part time AND freelance applications are welcomed.

Role overview

As a Mid-Weight WordPress Developer, you will be responsible for building new websites using custom theme development (we don’t use page builders), working closely with our design team to bring creative visions to life. You will work within a total core team of 10, with the support of additional freelancers and interns.

The role would be suitable for an experienced full-stack developer who specialises in custom WordPress builds. An ideal candidate would have agency experience or has worked in a similar environment.

This is the perfect role for someone who would like to make their mark on a small, but rapidly growing digital agency.

Capabilities

Technical skills:

  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, SASS, JavaScript, jQueryand PHP.
  • Experience with Advanced Custom Fields Pro (ACF Pro) and custom post types.
  • Experience with package managers (e.g., Gulp, Grunt, NPM)
  • Strong understanding of WordPress core, themes, and plugins (including WooCommerce)
  • Experience with front-end frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap)
  • Knowledge of cross browser testing, responsive design principles and mobile-first development.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Knowledge with server management - DNS settings, hosting, c-panel
  • Experience working with bespoke or third party APIs
  • WordPress updates, backups and maintenance
  • WordPress troubleshooting and bug fixing
  • Optimising website performance and speed
  • SEO best practices

Soft skills:

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for learning and staying current with industry trends.
