Power Apps Developer at Department for Education, Manchester, 3 Months, £Contract Rate

This role is within the Improvement & Insight Division. We work closely with many other directorates including (but not limited to) Commercial, Finance, HR, and Technology together with Group and Directorate Support Teams to deliver technology-driven change to the department.The department has an ambitious plan to improve staff efficiency, reducing the burden on staff by introducing automation tools. Our current live applications include Delegation Management System, Grants Register, Instant Rewards, Business Case Tool, Divisional Registers, etc. We need to secure specialist contractor resource to increase our existing developer capacity in the automation team.The successful candidate must show initiative and will be expected to reach out to other developers, Business Analysts and customers in order to complete the work allocated.They will be a proactive part of the team, maintaining reports on their progress, supporting junior staff in their development and supporting the maintenance of existing tools. They must, however, comply with the technology stack and design principles we use. We expect applications to be developed solely with Power Apps although some admin activities can use Power Automate with prior agreement from the Automation Team Leader. Data stores for the application should be SharePoint or Dataverse. Reports must be developed in Power BI. Key Responsibilities:Build Power Apps with associated components using our reference architecture.Ensure these meet user requirements and acceptance criteria with Business Analysts, Testers and potentially customers.Work collaboratively with all the specialist functions in a project, specifically the project manager, business analyst, engagement lead and test manager deliver the required product.Produce and maintain system documentation, designs etc.Work fully in our software development agile methodology using Azure DevOps (VSTS).Provide ongoing support and guidance on the administration and maintenance of Power Platform.Share knowledge across the team and seek advice when necessaryRapidly respond to short-term problems in your own area and across the wider team.Other tasks that contribute to the development of our solutions and the team.You should have a passion for making things better through the use of technology.You should be familiar with Microsoft technologies and be looking to learn more.Essential SkillsExpert in software development using Power Apps,Fully conversant using Power Automate,Development of reports in Power BIExpert in using SharePoint and Dataverse as data stores for these solutions.Use of Microsoft Azure DevOps for the management delivery.Desirable SkillsArtificial intelligence functions in Power Apps, Power BI and Power Automate.
