Job Type : Freelance as a Contractor

Job Purpose
We are seeking a WordPress Developer to join our close knit team in Manchester with experience in web-based technology and development of front end systems. We prefer close collaboration, so you need to be a great communicator and have solid interpersonal skills. Maintaining strong expertise and knowledge of current and emerging technologies and products is key.

You will collaborate with teams across the business to design and develop new UI/UX for various products including websites, web apps, MVT (A/B/n), internal tools, etc.

Essential technical experience

  • Highly competent in WordPress
  • Proven experience in developing themes and plugins
  • HTML / CSS / SASS
  • Experience of WordPress Development
  • Experience JavaScript (ES6) / React JS of Angular JS (including redux and webhooks)
  • CSS frameworks / libraries
  • Node JS based tooling (Gulp / Webpack etc.)
  • Experience of cloud solutions WordPress hosted solutions
  • SQL

Desirable technical experience
We plan to map out a strong technical vision for the platform so you should expect to be working with the following:

  • Experience of AngularJS although we will be evaluating the right javascript framework for the future including react or vue.js
  • Ruby on Rails / PHP / Python / Stacks
  • Redux / React
  • CSS frameworks / libraries
  • Node JS based tooling (Gulp / Webpack etc.)
  • Experience of cloud solutions / AWS / Google Cloud / Azure
  • AB Testing frameworks
  • Page Speed Performance Tools

Additional preferred skills:

  • Development and deployment using Linux or UNIX systems.
  • Source code management using Git and bug tracking software, especially Jira
  • An understanding of accessibility and WCAG standards
  • Passion for gaming, e-sports and PC tech
  • Creating CI/CD Pipelines

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing WordPress themes & plugins
  • Developing tools for our users to use across the portfolio
  • Develop product features with minimal supervision.
  • Design, build and maintain efficient, useable, and reliable front end applications
  • Maintenance of cloud application environments (AWS/Google Cloud)
  • Help maintain code quality, organization and automation
  • Turn wireframes into interactive prototypes
  • Turn prototypes into production-ready code

Location: Manchester - would consider remote working

Pay: Up to £350.00 per day
