Senior Software Engineer (Machine Learning – AWS) – FTC (Contract inside IR35 considered) [UK]

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be designing, developing, and maintaining tools that support machine learning workflows on AWS SageMaker. The Machine Learning Enablement team are building new capabilities that will unlock new horizons for the Data Science teams. With this role you’ll be at the heart of an exciting journey, crafting tools and functions that are state-of-the-art and transformative. We are the catalysts, enabling the creation and collaboration of cutting-edge machine learning technologies. Our work is pivotal in shaping the future, empowering teams across the organisation to explore, innovate, and redefine the landscape of media.
We are focused on enhancing MLE Hub platform by implementing MLOps capabilities. Our plan is implementing SageMaker Studio and its tools to empower data scientists to excel in their task.
Essential Key Skills and Responsibilities
You will have:
- hands on experience of designing, developing, and maintaining tools that support machine learning workflows
- experience of AWS services such as SageMaker, S3, VPC, KMS
- experience of Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as CDK, CloudFormation
- experience in feature engineering, data pre-processing, data pipelines, feature store
- experience of modern Python development software engineering best practices including TDD
- practical experience using Machine Learning techniques to improve recommendations capabilities, such as MLops (Desired)
- knowledge of CI/CD pipelines such as CodeBuild or CodePipeline and TDD
- a strong willingness to learn and be a keen team player
- professional experience of working in projects using Agile development processes
- experience of writing and taking responsibility for technical documentation
Experience
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or similar work based experience.
- Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer ideally with a focus on media-related projects.
- Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies.
- Experience with providing coaching and mentoring
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to the development of business scenarios.
- Knowledge of software development tools and technologies.
- You are flexible and curious in your approach
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
