Summary Description: The Network Engineer for the Echo 2 Programme is responsible for assisting with the onsite installation of Echo 2 network services at FCDO and British Council sites across the world. The role reports to the Echo 2 Deployment Lead.As a Network Engineer your main responsibilities will be to:Review and validate as-is site technical configuration/information.Rack and stack the Echo 2 network equipment at site, running network cables between devices and patch panels as per the site design.Re-cable the Echo 2 aspects of the network rack to achieve an optimal and tidy rack installation.Tidy the installation area and dispose of installation-generated rubbish appropriately.Troubleshoot installation issues where required.Assist site with User Acceptance Testing where required.Contribute to the development and delivery of the Programme plan as directed by the Echo 2 Deployment Lead.Participate in cross functional workshops as required.Review site designs.Provide network technical advice to the wider Programme and Echo 2 supplier teams.Liaise with site contacts to provide them with on-going information about their upcoming transition.Work closely and collaboratively with the wider Programme team.Essential:CCNA certified or strong CISCO experience.SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks.Current SC clearance with no restrictions and at least 4 months until it expires.Experience of transitioning large and complex IT projects in UK public sector.Experience of installing network equipment in datacentres as well as smaller server rooms.Experience of fault finding and troubleshooting networks.Excellent understanding of different network media types and connectors.Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills and be able to hit the ground running with work.Must be able to read and understand complex network diagrams.Must be able to work with multiple suppliers and provide them with guidance as required.Experience of SD-WAN technologies is advantageous.Must have good IP sub-netting skills.Must be prepared to travel overseas occasionally and work flexibly as sites around the world may need their support at different times and therefore any time can be taken in lieu.Must have a valid passport with no travel restrictions.
