Senior Application Support Engineer

Job Summary

The Applications Support Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance for various applications used within a global heavy manufacturing company, this role will be based in one of the organisations UK’s locations. This role will involve troubleshooting issues, resolving incidents, and ensuring the smooth operation of business applications.

Key Responsibilities

Incident Management:

Respond promptly to incidents and service requests.

Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to applications.

Document incident resolution processes and share knowledge with the team.

Application Support:

Provide technical support for various applications from different vendors.

Maintain and update application documentation.

Root cause analysis

Assist in the implementation and deployment of new application features.

Senior Application Support Engineer

Problem Management:

Identify and analyse recurring issues to prevent future problems.

Implement preventive measures and corrective actions to improve application stability.

Change Management:

Participate in change management processes, including testing and deployment of updates.

Ensure that changes are implemented in accordance with IT standards and procedures.

Vendor Management:

Coordinate with vendors to resolve technical issues and obtain support.

Ability to challenge technical information supplied by vendors to enable thorough fixes.

Manage vendor relationships and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).

Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.

Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices.

Required Skills and Experience

Strong technical knowledge and experience in application support.

Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques.

Familiarity with ITIL best practices for incident and problem management.

Understanding of application development and deployment processes.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience with [relevant application platforms or technologies, e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics].
